Senior QA Automation Engineer - Cross-Border QR Payments

We are hiring a QA Automation Engineer. Your primary mission is clear: your entire world will be writing automated test suites to validate raw API endpoints, simulate massive global transaction loads, and act as the ultimate quality firewall before code hits production.

At SQRIL (pronounced "Squirrel"), we’re building the future of cross-border QR code payments. We are looking for our fifth dev to add to our growing team. We are a venture backed startup with an opportunity for you to also earn equity / ownership.

About the Role

• Position: 40 hours/week
• Work setup: Fully remote, in the Philippines.
• Compensation:
• Base salary: TBD, with the upside of equity that vests based on your contributions.
• Equity: Ownership through stock grants as you help the company scale.

Required

·       3+ years in QA engineering with strong test automation experience (not manual-only)

·       Proficiency writing API/integration tests in TypeScript/JavaScript (Jest or Vitest)

·       Experience testing REST APIs, webhooks, async/event-driven flows, and idempotency

·       Comfort with mocking external dependencies (databases, HTTP clients, auth)

·       Ability to design test cases from specs — provider SIT documents, Postman collections, sequence diagrams

·       Strong attention to detail on financial/payment edge cases (balances, fees, FX, status transitions)

·       Clear documentation habits: evidence capture, test plans, regression checklists

Strong plus

·       Fintech / payments / remittance QA experience (payouts, QR payments, cross-border)

·       Postman/Newman or similar API test runners

·       Firebase / GCP or serverless testing (emulators, Cloud Logging)

·       Experience with provider SIT/UAT submissions and sandbox coordination

·       Performance/latency testing mindset (p95, phased tracing, SLA validation)

·       Familiarity with EMV QR or mobile wallet payment flows

·       UI test automation (Playwright, Cypress) — we have room to build this on the dashboard
