Job Description


Hennessey Digital, a leading search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing agency in North America, is seeking a highly-organized, self-motivated Manager, Marketing & Communications to join its in-house Marketing and Communications team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing, email marketing, content creation, communications, social media, and workflow automation initiatives that result in lead generation, increased engagement, and increased visibility for the company. This position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications and works closely with Hennessey Digital’s Business Development, Engineering, Client Services, People Success, and Executive Leadership teams.


The ideal candidate for this role is a team player who is an excellent storyteller, demonstrates the ability to identify opportunities and develop strategies, has strong writing, grammar, and editing skills, and can communicate effectively and clearly to different audiences. This team member should also have a passion for business growth and influencing decision makers, exhibit a solution-focused mindset, possess a technology and AI-forward mindset, and have at least four (4) years of marketing, digital marketing, and/or PR/communications experience, including experience developing and implementing email marketing campaigns and web content. Prior experience within a PR, Media or Digital Marketing agency is preferred.


We are a fully remote and highly collaborative team of digital marketing thought leaders located all over the country. We provide white-glove service to our clients, and we’re looking for a thoughtful, driven team member with an eye for opportunity who is comfortable working across departments and can ensure that all projects are delivered on time, on budget, and on strategy.


As a member of the Marketing & Communications team of a rapidly-growing company, it’s important that you have an entrepreneurial attitude, the ability to embrace change, and have strong project management skills to be able to successfully manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects. As our Manager, Marketing & Communications, you will also be expected to stay up-to-date with industry news, the AI/LLM ecosystem as it relates to GEO and marketing, the latest social media trends, and be familiar with digital technologies available in the marketplace that enable the delivery and consumption of information.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of Hennessey Digital’s annual marketing & communication strategies to achieve established lead generation and growth OKRs that support the company’s overall goals
  • Develop Hennessey Digital’s email marketing strategy to build brand awareness and generate leads. Manage the day-to-day creation, execution, and reporting of Hennessey Digital’s email marketing calendar
  • Own the creation, distribution, and measurement of Hennessey Digital’s email newsletters, including but not limited to a monthly newsletter to internal staff, clients, and prospects
  • Responsible for managing the agency’s CRM tool (MailChimp) and serving as an in-house expert on its functionalities and features
  • Establish workflow automations
  • Manage database of current client contacts and prospects
  • Develop and monitor metrics to ensure effectiveness
  • Write and coordinate the implementation of website content to support the GEO, SEO, and lead generation initiatives for the company’s website
  • Create marketing and communications project plans, messaging, and marketing materials for internal (team members) and external audiences (clients, prospects, and marketplace) that educate, inform, and persuade about the company’s services, technology innovation, and marketing technologies. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Coordinate the graphic design and production of materials with Hennessey Digital’s Creative team and/or vendors
  • Serve as editor of the Hennessey Digital blog. This includes the creation and management of the blog’s editorial calendar, coordination of contributing authors, editing blog posts, writing content, and posting to the HD blog with on-time and consistent postings
  • Serve on Hennessey Digital’s Research Committee, playing an active role in the project management, planning, execution, and promotion of Hennessey Digital’s research initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to leverage Hennessey Digital’s services internally, externally, and among clients
  • Write and send client-facing communications to inform or educate about Hennessey Digital news, innovation, or POVs
  • Support the New Business/Sales team with strategic, targeted email outreach and other marketing strategies to drive conversations and generate leads.
  • Provide recommendations that drive brand engagement, conversations, and leads
  • Provide engagement and performance reports to equip our New Business/Sales team with data that supports the efficiency and targeting of their sales outreach
  • Coordinate company presence and logistics at events and networking opportunities, including on-site visibility, booth shipment when applicable, event collateral, email marketing, giveaways, etc., to enhance our audience’s experience with Hennessey Digital
  • Develop the company’s organic social media strategy and manage day-to-day execution and engagement on multiple social channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Coordinate Hennessey Digital’s industry award circuit by identifying opportunities, writing and submitting awards on behalf of the company and clients
  • Support People Success with new hire profiles on the Hennessey Digital website
  • On an as-needed basis, contribute to the ideation and execution of additional initiatives as they relate to Hennessey Digital Marketing & Communications, the CEO’s brand (Jason Hennessey, or other initiatives within the Hennessey group of companies


Please note: This is a fully remote position. Occasional travel may be required; however, anticipated travel is less than 10% of the time.


Experience & Qualifications

  • 4 years of PR, Communications, and/or Digital Marketing experience in-house or in an agency environment
  • Experiencing developing and executing successful email marketing campaigns resulting in engagement and lead generation/user acquisition.
  • Strong writing experience demonstrating the ability for storytelling, positioning, persuasion, and the ability to connect the dots
  • Hands-on experience in writing online and offline content. Familiarity with effective strategies when writing for the web.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing, grammar and editing
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and develop strategies
  • Strong project management skills and confidence in taking ownership of initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Experience developing and implementing social media strategies for a company, brand, or agency preferred, but not required
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, video)
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing channels and strategies, including SEO, paid media, GEO/AI search optimization, video, keyword research, and Google Analytics, and reporting
  • Experience collaborating with department leads
  • Accountable self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and handle information with professionalism


Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

BA degree in Marketing, Communications, or relevant years of experience


Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000 annually
