Alberta Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Senior Analyst, Corporate Planning to work out of our office in St. Albert, AB. The successful candidate is responsible for delivering value-added business analysis and meaningful financial/operational reports that lead to insightful, accurate business decision making. This position will take a lead role in the development and preparation of all aspects of forward-looking financial analysis and reporting.

Role Responsibilities


Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop and process the company's continued development of the annual consolidated budget, financial forecasting, operating plans and modelling processes.
  • Engage with operational teams as a proactive, trusted financial business partner and drive business and operational performance to improve financial outcomes and real-time forecasting updates.

Analysis:

  • Provide meaningful, value-added analysis and actionable recommendations to management to meet key performance targets and improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for strategic decision-making purposes.

Reporting and Presentations:

  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key findings and insights.
  • Prepare/consolidate monthly/quarterly reporting packages including financial statements, management presentations, comprehensive Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting, variance analysis, and executive commentary.
  • Develop new reports as required in the Company’s reporting system.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and investment decisions.
  • Respond to ad hoc business requirements for management and prepare ad hoc reports providing recommendations / conclusions to management.
  • Create and deliver reports, dashboards, and performance reporting per project requirements; this includes producing financial reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.

Communication:

  • Coordinate and communicate information between the Corporate Planning team and the rest of the organization.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for the simplification and automation of the company’s financial planning process, including supporting the assessment of the financial planning system / tools.
  • Identify and implement process efficiency improvements; continuously standardize and improve the budgeting and forecasting processes.


Role Requirements


  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related degree, plus a professional designation (CPA, CFA).5+ years of experience in a medium-to-large sized company preferably with 3+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • A track record building finance processes and models is strongly preferred.
  • A manufacturing industry background is preferred.
  • Experience working for a Public company is considered an asset.
  • Must possess highest standard of accuracy and precision.
  • Strong attention to detail and good prioritization skills.
  • Experience meeting aggressive deadlines and juggling multiple projects at a time.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Has a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities and assignments.
