System Testing Engineer - Project ITER in FRANCE

We are looking for System Testing Engineers, oriented to services and development of high-quality solutions based on Microsoft technologies:

  • On-site at ITER IO premises (Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France): 1 Senior position (at least 10 years of experience in the required domain).
  • Starion Group premises (Madrid or Rome): 1 Junior position (at least 3 years of experience in the required domain) and 1 Intermediate position (at least 5 years of experience in the required domain).

The main objective will be to ensure the highest quality of the SW developed, consisting concretely in testing software, to find and report defects, ensuring it works correctly and meets requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for creating and executing test plans, documenting issues, automating tests when possible, and collaborating with the development team to improve software quality.


About the client and location

ITER ("The Way" in Latin) is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today, located in southern France, with 35 nations collaborating to build the world's largest system to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy based on the same principle that powers our Sun and stars.

The service is defined with a mix of on-site and off-site positions, to cover in-house software design, development, testing and deployment of various in-house developed applications and a central database containing all the ITER project-related data (e.g. System Components, etc.).

The complexity of the several tools and types of data used by ITER requires careful integration and management of the data, using Microsoft database web applications, BPM tools and broad range of technologies.


Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Interface with customer and project stakeholders to ensure the proper delivery matching the requirements and expected level of quality.
  • Create and execute test plans to validate changes and change impacts.
  • Run non-regression tests; deliver sign off report before deployment.
  • Follow defect resolutions, coordinating the stakeholders as needed to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Create and monitor the daily status of automated tests in Selenium.
  • Audit test tool usage and send weekly reports of QA activities to major stakeholders.
  • Writing project/product documentation related to the Test Plan, Procedures, and Reports.
  • Preparing and carrying out presentations with the different stakeholders.


Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of experience for the Senior position, 5 years for the intermediate and 3 years for the Junior role.
  • Proven experience with testing services for web applications and solutions.
  • Proven experience with automated testing, using Selenium and Angular.
  • Proven experience with REST, Micro-Services, Messaging Systems and similar architectures.
  • Proven experience in some of the following technologies: VB.Net, Asp.Net, C#, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience in complex systems, integrating commercial applications by using APIs.
  • Proven experience in Agile environment, working with heterogeneous and international teams.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Experience with testing services for web mobile applications and solutions (Flutter).
  • Experience with testing SW Solutions using APIs of some specific commercial applications (e.g. Primavera, COBRA, SmartPlant, Cleopatra, Matrix, SAP, CAD, CATIA, etc.).
