Security Engineer (Tenable One) – 6-Month Contract

Security Clearance: Active UK Security Clearance (SC) required

My client is seeking an experienced Security Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Tenable One to join their Security Engineering team on an initial six-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a large-scale, complex enterprise environment, helping to develop and enhance critical vulnerability and exposure management capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in the ongoing engineering, administration, and optimisation of the organisation's Tenable One platform while working closely with security, infrastructure, risk, governance, and operational teams.

Please note: Active UK Security Clearance (SC) is a mandatory requirement for this role. Unfortunately, candidates who do not currently hold active clearance cannot be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate as a key member of the Security Engineering team.
• Work within SAFe-aligned Agile delivery practices, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Maintain accurate workload, delivery, and time tracking within Jira.
• Contribute to the engineering, configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of the Tenable One platform.
• Translate customer and business requirements into clear, actionable engineering tasks.
• Support vulnerability and exposure management activities across complex enterprise environments.
• Provide technical escalation support and guidance to junior engineers where required.
• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and knowledge base content.
• Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and technical handovers where necessary.
• Provide occasional out-of-hours support for priority activities and critical changes.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Tenable One & Vulnerability Management (Critical Requirement)

• Proven hands-on experience implementing, configuring, administering, and optimising Tenable One within enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of vulnerability management and exposure management principles.

• Experience with asset discovery, vulnerability assessment, risk-based prioritisation, remediation tracking, and reporting.
• Ability to leverage Tenable One to provide meaningful security insights and support risk reduction initiatives.
• Experience integrating Tenable One with wider security tooling and operational processes.
• Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, including dashboard creation, metrics generation, SLA/KPI tracking, and large-scale data analysis.
• Experience producing executive and operational reporting from vulnerability and exposure management data.
• Knowledge of Attack Surface Management (ASM) is highly desirable.
• Ability to map vulnerability data against industry standards and frameworks while incorporating threat intelligence into risk management processes.

Automation & Engineering

• Experience using scripting and automation to streamline operational tasks and build integrations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within security platforms and infrastructure.

Stakeholder Management & Delivery

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a wider engineering team.
• Experience working within SAFe, Scrum, or similar Agile delivery frameworks.
• Proven experience working closely with Security Operations, Infrastructure, Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams.

Security Clearance (Mandatory)

• Active UK Security Clearance (SC) is required.
• Candidates must hold current clearance and be eligible to work in the UK.
• Sponsorship or clearance application support is not available for this position.

Desirable Skills

Network & Security Technologies

• Enterprise-grade next-generation firewalls, including Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet.
• Firewall policy administration and security profile management.
• Experience with management platforms such as Panorama, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including routing and switching.
• Exposure to Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies.
• F5 load balancers and application delivery platforms.
• Email security solutions such as Mimecast.
• Certificate services and VPN administration.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure services.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure services.

Additional Experience

• Previous experience within an MSSP environment.
• Experience working within highly regulated sectors such as energy, utilities, government, defence, or critical national infrastructure.
