Core Responsibilities
We are looking for a tools programmer passionate about broadening the capabilities of our internal teams with tools and gameplay. You will be working as an integral part of the LEGO GAME group, delivering and maintaining the tools all our Fortnite Island developers need. As this is a relatively new team, you will be an integral part in defining how we enable our teams internally over time. As a member of the Creator Tools team, you will be responsible for architecting gameplay devices, both on UEFN level using Verse and eventually on Unreal level using C++ together with our tech artists. In this role, you will
- Collaborate with the Creator Tools team and other internal LEGO GAME teams to design and develop new devices and tools for UEFN developers.
- Have a playful approach to tools development enabling creators to create the games of their dreams.
- Improve and enhance our delivery pipeline across LEGO GAME into the UEFN environment.
- Support the LEGO organization with ad hoc issues that are currently being funneled through the Creator Tools team, like the ability to render LEGO bricks in Unreal and making them performant.
- Explore new ways for the Creator Tools team to be enabled.
Play your part in our team succeeding
We are a relatively new team within LEGO GAME collaborating with EPIC. The team is 4 people big with the potential of growing. We are looking for a senior developer with Unreal and UEFN knowledge who can help us drive all our technical deliveries. We are currently working on UEFN deliveries supporting our internal groups, but we aim to move onto the Unreal tech-stack within the next half year.
Please note This is a position based in Billund, Denmark. Our flexible working model allows employees to work 2 days/week from home (3 days in the office). Relocation support is not offered for this role.
Do you have what it takes?
- Strong C++ skills and programming principles knowledge.
- Solid understanding of networked game principles and how they apply to real time creation.
- Energized by working both with processes and being hands on.
- Solid Unreal engine and Perforce pipeline understanding.
- A user centered approach.
- Experience delivering tools for Unreal Engine.
Nice to haves
- Knowledge about graphics programming and optimization
- Knowledge about platform development.
- Experience developing AA+ or AAA games using Unreal.
- Solid skills in either discrete math and/or algorithms, and/or linear algebra.
