Key Responsibilities
Coordinate recruitment activities including job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking system administration
Support hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment process to ensure positive candidate experience
Coordinate background checks, offer documentation, pre-employment activities, and onboarding logistics
Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation activities
Maintain recruiting records, candidate pipelines, and hiring documentation
Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture initiatives
Assist with planning and execution of employee events, all-staff meetings, engagement activities, and Culture Committee initiatives
Serve as primary point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, systems, and People & Culture programs
Maintain employee records and personnel documentation while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity
Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, and employment documentation
Support compliance activities, required notices, audits, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements
Assist with policy administration and process documentation
Support benefits administration, enrollment activities, qualifying life events, and employee benefit inquiries
Coordinate with brokers, vendors, and carriers to resolve employee issues and ensure accurate administration
Generate standard reports and assist with workforce data tracking
Support administration of performance management processes and systems
Assist with Individual Development Plan tracking, learning programs, and professional development initiatives
Coordinate training logistics, learning resources, and employee development activities
Assist with annual People & Culture initiatives including performance reviews, open enrollment, engagement surveys, compliance activities, and workforce planning efforts
Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned

Job Description


RPStaffing is conducting an immediate temp-to-hire search for the People and Culture Specialist with a major Washington, DC area nonprofit. This is a fully remote opportunity. This is a highly interactive position for someone who enjoys working on a wide variety of daily tasks within Human Resources.

Job Title: People and Culture Specialist (Human Resources)

Status: Temp-to-Permanent

Hours: Full-time, M-F

Remote Status: Fully Remote

Hourly Pay During Temporary Period: $23.00

Annual Salary When Permanent: $60,000 – $70,000 plus exceptional comprehensive benefits package


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking system administration.
  • Support hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment process to ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Coordinate background checks, offer documentation, pre-employment activities, and onboarding logistics.

  • Maintain recruiting records, candidate pipelines, and hiring documentation.


Employee Experience & Culture

  • Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture initiatives.

  • Help administer employee surveys and support follow-up action planning efforts.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding People & Culture programs, policies, and procedures.


HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, systems, and People & Culture programs.
  • Maintain employee records and personnel documentation while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, and employment documentation.
  • Support compliance activities, required notices, audits, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Assist with policy administration and process documentation.


Benefits & HR Systems Administration

  • Support benefits administration, enrollment activities, qualifying life events, and employee benefit inquiries.
  • Coordinate with brokers, vendors, and carriers to resolve employee issues and ensure accurate administration.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and support system administration activities.
  • Assist with HR technology initiatives, process improvements, system implementations, and user training efforts.
  • Generate standard reports and assist with workforce data tracking as needed.


Performance Management & Learning Support

  • Support administration of performance management processes and systems.
  • Assist with Individual Development Plan (IDP) tracking, learning programs, and professional development initiatives.
  • Coordinate training logistics, learning resources, and employee development activities.
  • Maintain learning and development records and resources.


Team & Organizational Support

  • Assist with annual People & Culture initiatives including performance reviews, open enrollment, engagement surveys, compliance activities, and workforce planning efforts.
  • Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve employee experience, operational efficiency, and People & Culture service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, Organizational Development, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Human Resources, People Operations, Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee lifecycle administration, benefits, HR systems, or employee programs.
  • Demonstrated customer service mindset with a commitment to delivering responsive, high-quality support to employees, managers, candidates, and external partners.
  • Strong technology aptitude and ability to quickly learn, navigate, and optimize new systems, platforms, and processes.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, benefits administration systems, or other workplace technologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration platforms.
  • Strong project coordination skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
