We're partnering with a rapidly growing biotechnology company that is transforming laboratory operations through advanced automation, robotics, and software engineering. Their mission is to accelerate scientific discovery by building custom automation systems that improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability across global laboratory operations. Also Known for innovative product launches like $15 overnight plasmid sequencing and $50 three-day RNA sequencing.

We're looking for a highly motivated Lab Robotics Engineer who enjoys building systems from the ground up, combining hardware and software to solve complex real-world challenges, and working in an environment where innovation and ownership are highly valued.

🔹 What You'll Do

Position: Lab Robotics Engineer, reporting to the head of the automation team.

• Design and build custom robotic systems and automation solutions from scratch

• Develop production-grade software using Python to control and optimize robotic workflows

• Integrate robotics platforms with AWS cloud infrastructure and data processing pipelines

• Collaborate closely with scientists, researchers, and lab technicians to automate critical workflows

• Develop monitoring, maintenance, and reliability systems for large-scale robotic operations

• Work with embedded systems, sensors, microcontrollers, and communication protocols

• Support new product launches through innovative hardware and software development

• Improve operational efficiency by identifying and implementing automation opportunities

🔹 What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in robotics, automation, software engineering, or related technical fields

• Strong Python programming expertise

• Experience with AWS, Terraform, Airflow, Nextflow, or similar technologies

• Hands-on experience with embedded systems such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or related platforms

• Experience with CAD software, rapid prototyping, or 3D printing

• Proven ability to build custom automation systems rather than simply configure existing solutions

• Strong problem-solving skills and a first-principles engineering mindset

• Experience working in startup or high-growth environments is highly preferred

• Strong Python engineer with experience in data pipelines (Airflow, NextFlow) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Terraform)
• Hands-on with embedded systems (Raspberry Pi, Arduino) and 3D printing/CAD — hobbyist or professional
• Proficiency in modern web frameworks (Flask, React, Next.js) and device communication protocols (gRPC, MQTT)

🔹 Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with laboratory automation or liquid-handling robots (OpenTrons, Hamilton, Tecan) in a lab or production setting

• Exposure to biotechnology, genomics, healthcare, or life sciences environments

• Experience integrating hardware systems with cloud-based software infrastructure

• BS, MS, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
