Job Description
Summary
We are partnering with a growing Minnesota manufacturer of custom engine exhaust systems for critical environments. Their company employs 130 people, up from 25 three years ago, is privately held, profitable, and recently added a second facility to support continued growth.
They are beginning development of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) product line, developed in-house from the ground up. This is a standalone development effort, not an extension of an existing product. The engineers hired now will shape it from first sketch to commercial product.
The Role
You will lead the mechanical design of the SCR catalyst systems: housings, catalyst module packaging, reactor geometry, flow distribution, structural and thermal design, and integration with engine exhaust systems. You will take concepts from development through prototyping, testing, and into a product that is commercial and buildable at production scale.
This is a builder’s role. You will start as the technical owner of the mechanical scope and grow into full product development ownership as the line matures, with a path to Product Specialist.
Key Responsibilities/Expectations
- Design SCR catalyst housings, reactor sections, and exhaust integration hardware for stationary and standby power applications
- Develop designs in 3D CAD and validate them with FEA and CFD for structural, thermal, and flow performance
- Own flow modeling, thermal management, and structural design decisions for catalyst systems
- Translate development units into manufacturable, repeatable designs with the fabrication team
- Work alongside chemical and controls engineers as a small, focused product team
- Support testing, validation, and early customer installations
- Grow into commercial ownership of the product: cost, configuration, application engineering
