2. About the Opportunity:

The AI/ML Engineering Manager leads a team of machine learning engineers and architects while maintaining a deep technical role in customer engagements. Reporting to the Director of AI/ML, this position combines leadership in hiring, developing, and managing team performance with responsibility for shaping architecture, leading complex projects, and supporting pre-sales activities. The role is pivotal in driving technical quality, delivering client value, and advancing the ML practice.

3. Responsibilities:

• Hire and build a high-performing ML team, leading technical assessments and making hiring decisions
• Develop team members through structured 1:1s, feedback, and growth planning
• Manage performance by recognizing strengths and addressing gaps, partnering with HR and leadership when needed
• Coordinate staffing to align skills and preferences with project needs
• Lead end-to-end ML assessments and produce actionable recommendations for customers
• Serve as senior technical authority on engagements, setting architecture and ensuring quality
• Advise customers on sustainable ML operations, translating complexity into practical standards
• Support pre-sales efforts by providing technical depth during scoping and proposals
• Lead project delivery from kickoff to completion, removing obstacles and maintaining quality standards

• Own technical client relationships as primary architect or senior technical authority
• Mentor team members, contribute to hiring processes, and develop reference architectures to advance the ML practice

4. Requirements:

• 10+ years in machine learning or AI with a record of leading client-facing consulting or advisory engagements
• Proven people management experience including hiring, performance management, and career development
• Deep, current knowledge of AWS ML and GenAI ecosystems, able to make architectural decisions across the ML lifecycle
• Expertise in two or three ML domains such as classical ML, computer vision, NLP, or time series
• Demonstrated ability to architect and govern production ML systems, translating complex operations into executable standards
• Expertise in foundation model adaptation techniques, RAG, agentic system design, and AWS-based deployment
• Capacity to operate independently in complex customer environments, managing priorities and stakeholder alignment
• Strong communication skills for technical and executive audiences

Strong differentiators:

• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• Experience developing practice-level standards and reusable ML accelerators
• Exposure to diverse industries and consulting environments
• Fluency in responsible AI practices including model evaluation, bias detection, and AI governance
• Knowledge of AIOps design patterns

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
