TrueLearn is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead and scale the company's people function during its next phase of growth. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and partnering closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the leadership team, this role will serve as the senior HR leader responsible for building the people infrastructure, talent strategy, and organizational capabilities needed to support a rapidly evolving business. The Director will develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy that enables growth, strengthens organizational effectiveness, and enhances employee engagement across the company.
The Director will oversee all aspects of talent management, recruiting, organizational development, compensation, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and HR operations for a fully remote workforce of over 100 employees. This leader will be responsible for building scalable people programs and processes, including talent assessment frameworks, onboarding, job architecture, compensation structures, performance management, and workforce planning.
The Director of Human Resources will also play a key role in strengthening organizational effectiveness by establishing foundational HR programs and partnering with leadership to develop and retain top talent. As the company continues to grow, this individual will help hire and manage a Business Office Manager who will support payroll administration, benefits coordination, compliance activities, and other HR operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Human Resources Leadership
- Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with TrueLearn's business objectives, culture, and growth plans.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, CEO, Chief Product Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, and leadership team on organizational design, talent strategy, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
- Build and scale HR programs, processes, and infrastructure to support organizational growth, operational excellence, and a high-performing remote workforce.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Develop and implement recruiting strategies that attract high-caliber talent across functional areas.
- Partner with hiring managers to define talent requirements, assess candidates, and improve hiring outcomes.
- Leverage data and market insights to support workforce planning and future talent needs.
- Enhance the overall candidate and hiring manager experience throughout the recruiting lifecycle.

Employee Experience & Talent Development
- Design and implement a comprehensive onboarding program that enables new employees to integrate quickly and effectively into the organization.
- Develop career frameworks and job families that support employee development, internal mobility, and organizational growth.
- Create and manage a structured annual performance review process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, feedback practices, and development planning.
- Partner with leaders to identify high-potential employees and support succession planning initiatives.
- Lead employee engagement efforts, including employee surveys, action planning, recognition programs, and retention initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Develop and maintain compensation structures, salary bands, and job architecture that support internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Oversee benefits strategy and administration, ensuring programs remain competitive and aligned with employee needs.
- Manage and optimize the company's HRIS platform (Paylocity), ensuring data integrity, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance activities through partnership with the Business Office Manager and external vendors.
- Utilize HR metrics and analytics to inform leadership decisions and workforce planning.
Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk Management
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on employee relations matters, workplace concerns, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly within a multi-state remote workforce environment.
- Partner with legal counsel and external advisors as needed on employment-related matters.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience leading multiple HR functions. Proven experience building and scaling HR programs, processes, and infrastructure in a growing organization.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and HR compliance.
- Experience leading talent acquisition, workforce planning, and employee development initiatives.
- Experience developing job architecture, career frameworks, and compensation programs, including salary banding.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms; Paylocity experience preferred.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with executives and managers at all levels.
- Success supporting remote or distributed workforces preferred.
- Background in a high-growth, technology-enabled, or private equity-backed environment preferred.
