About the Role: Stax are leading the headhunting for a pioneering deeptech startup based in Munich, dedicated to revolutionizing the energy sector. Our client’s innovative approach and cutting-edge technology aim to make fusion energy a viable and sustainable energy source for the future. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Simulation Infrastructure Engineer to oversee and advance their infrastructure and simulation projects.


Position Overview: As the Simulation Infrastructure Lead, you will be responsible for leading the development and management of our client's simulation infrastructure. Whether your background is in infrastructure and DevOps, with a particular interest in Bazel or Dev Containers, or in simulation platform development for engineering or AI teams, your expertise will be crucial in building and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient simulation environments to support their groundbreaking research and development efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the objectives and challenges of the research and design teams, and leading the development of the infrastructure and tools that support our simulation and data-driven approach
  • Contributing and reviewing code across the full stack from the core data infrastructure to large scale simulation pipelines
  • Proactively enhancing the teams’ abilities to collaborate with simulation by leading the integration and adoption of analysis and visualization tools
  • Helping to define and implement cross-org software engineering best practices, enabled by great tooling
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers


Qualifications:

  • An experienced technical lead with a strong foundation in computer science, engineering or a related field
  • Strong background in infrastructure and DevOps, with specific experience in tools like Bazel or DevContainers.
  • Experience leading end-to-end/full-stack system design, ideally within an environment supporting physics, engineering, or AI teams
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in simulation and infrastructure development (e.g., Python, C++, Typescript).
  • A skilled communicator of technical concepts, including through discussions, whiteboard
  • sessions, and written documentation
  • Enthusiastic about high quality tooling and enhancing developer experience
  • Driven to solve complex problems with simple solutions
  • Nice to have: familiar with simulation, data analysis, optimization or hardware engineering
  • workflows
