Job Description

GSM (Green SM) - Vingroup-backed EV Mobility Platform

  • Role: Director, Vehicle and Repair Management
  • Reports to: General Manager - Côte d’Ivoire
  • Team: Builds and leads the vehicle maintenance and repair function - import and logistics, workshops, technicians, spare parts, and insurance (likely including a dedicated import and logistics lead)
  • Location: Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
  • Travel: Mostly within the market across depots and workshops; periodic travel to HQ and regional gatherings
  • Compensation: TBC

Keep Côte d’Ivoire’s first all-electric fleet on the road - and build the maintenance machine that turns uptime into a business impact

About GSM

GSM (Green SM) is building the world’s first fully electric ride-hailing platform - reinventing how people move through cities, one clean ride at a time. Our scope is global and our model is unusually broad: we operate at the intersection of electric vehicle solutions, vehicle financing, EV charging and depot infrastructure, technology development, and ride-hailing. In under three years we have become one of the fastest-scaling players in our markets, and we are now bringing our all-electric service to Africa, beginning with Côte d’Ivoire

The role

You own the fleet end to end - from importing the vehicles and getting them on the ground, through the maintenance, repair, spare parts, workshop network, and insurance that keep every electric vehicle earning and every driver moving. From the first cars clearing customs and arriving at the depot, you build the operation that turns a brand-new EV fleet into reliable uptime, at controlled cost, in a market that has never serviced electric vehicles at scale

.This is a hands-on technical builder role. You oversee vehicle import and ground logistics, stand up the service workshop network, build and train the technician base, set the maintenance standards, control the parts and the costs, and run the insurance and risk side with discipline. You report to the General Manager and work closely with our global teams and the vehicle manufacturer, who support you through the early phase

What you’ll own

Vehicle import and ground logistics

- Oversee vehicle import end to end: customs clearance, port handling, and on-time delivery to the depot, working with logistics partners and the relevant authorities

- Build and run the on-the-ground logistics that move vehicles from port to depot and out across sites, and keep inbound spare parts and materials flowing

- Plan import and logistics to protect the launch timeline, then run it as a steady capability as the fleet grows

- Build out a dedicated import and logistics lead in your team as volumes scale

Fleet maintenance and uptime

- Build and run preventive and corrective maintenance for the entire EV fleet, keeping availability high and downtime low

- Own fleet uptime as your headline metric - plan servicing to protect availability and operational continuity

- Manage EV-specific maintenance: battery health, high-voltage safety, and the shift from many wear parts to fewer, warranty-bound components

- Coordinate with charging infrastructure to keep vehicles ready and battery health protected

Service workshop network and quality

- Build, expand, and manage the network of authorized service workshops from a standing start

- Set service-quality standards, operating procedures, and performance KPIs across every workshop

- Drive turnaround time, compliance, and quality continuously across the network

- Own the relationship with the vehicle manufacturer on warranty, technical support, and parts supply

Repair management and SLA control

- Oversee repair operations for vehicles in for service or breakdown at the workshops

- Control repair progress, cost, and quality so every vehicle is repaired in line with defined SLAs

- Minimize vehicle downtime by coordinating tightly across internal teams and workshops

Spare parts and materials

- Control the management, replacement, and usage of spare parts and consumables across depots

- Keep inventory within approved norms and limits, and forecast EV parts demand with the manufacturer

- Issue early warnings and corrective action on over-utilization or deviation from approved thresholds

Insurance, risk and asset protection

- Manage all vehicle insurance cases and claims end-to-end, and run the compensation process per company policy

- Identify and control risks to spare parts, fleet assets, and repair operations

- Build preventive controls against loss, fraud, and misuse, and strengthen compliance across the operation

Cost control, systems and reporting

- Monitor and control maintenance and repair cost across depots; analyze efficiency and benchmark across sites

- Flag early, with recommendations, when cost trends run ahead of budget or target

- Stand up the fleet-management and reporting system for performance, cost, quality, and risk

- Evaluate maintenance strategy continuously and propose improvements to senior management.

Who you are

You’re a fleet-and-workshop builder. You’ve stood up or scaled a real maintenance operation before - a service-workshop network, an aftersales function, a fleet-maintenance operation - and you know how to go from an empty bay to a running technical machine

You know vehicles deeply, and you’re ready for EV. You have a strong automotive maintenance or aftersales foundation, and you’re energised by the move to electric - battery health, high-voltage safety, warranty-driven parts - even where you’re learning parts of it as you go

You run on uptime, cost, and control. You read maintenance KPIs instinctively, you obsess over availability and cost per vehicle, and you design the controls that keep parts and assets from walking out the door

You’re hands-on and close to the floor. You’d rather be in the workshop solving the real breakdown than managing it from a deck

You know Côte d’Ivoire. You understand the local operating environment, the supplier and workshop landscape, and you bring a network you can put to work from day one

You lead technical teams well. You know how to hire, train, and get the best from technicians and workshop partners, and you set a high bar without losing people

What you bring

  • Fluent French and working English
  • 8+ years in vehicle maintenance, fleet aftersales, or service-network operations, including team leadership
  • Strong command of maintenance and repair processes, workshop-network management, spare-parts control, and insurance and claims handling
  • Cost control, risk management, and internal-control discipline
  • Hands-on experience building or running a service-workshop network and the technical teams behind it
  • Command of vehicle import, customs clearance, and ground logistics - directly or through a dedicated lead you build and manage
  • Deep knowledge of the Ivorian market, with an established local network
  • Open to and excited by electric-vehicle maintenance
  • Based in or ready to relocate to Abidjan, hands-on by nature

Things that would make us excited

  • Direct experience with EV, battery, or charging maintenance
  • An OEM aftersales or authorized service-network background
  • Industry exposure in any of ride-hailing, mobility, fleet operations, logistics, automotive, large-scale vehicle solutions
  • Experience standing up a workshop or aftersales network from scratch
  • Experience with vehicle import, customs clearance, or automotive inbound logistics
  • Familiarity with fleet-management systems and telematics

What we offer

  • Build the technical backbone of the country’s first all-electric ride-hailing fleet
  • Real ownership of a function from a start - the standards, the network, and the team are yours to build
  • Growth as the fleet scales in the years ahead
  • Competitive compensation - details discussed at offer stage; relocation support available for international hires
