Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript) - fully remote - Eu/Asia time zone

TechShack are working with one of the fastest-growing DEX venues in the market, a profitable, well-funded platform with institutional backing and tens of billions in settled volume.

They're now scaling the engine behind it, and are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to take real ownership of the services that keep markets running.

This is a high-autonomy IC seat for someone who wants their fingerprints on a live trading product used every day. You'll ship features end to end, working directly with the core team and founders. (total team size of around 30).

Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 base + equity/token upside.

What you'll work on

• Take features from design through implementation, deployment and iteration - you own the outcome, not just the pull request.
• Build the services that move money: trade lifecycle handling, margin and exposure tracking, automated deleveraging paths, rate mechanisms and settlement logic.
• Engineer real-time, event-driven systems - streaming updates, message queues, worker fleets and caching layers that hold up when markets move fast.
• Connect the off-chain world to the chain: contract interactions, transaction orchestration, event ingestion, node providers and data indexing across an EVM L2.
• Ship the internal APIs that power the front end, analytics, operations and risk teams.

• Harden production: drive down latency, tighten fault tolerance, and make reliability and observability first-class citizens.
• Lean on modern AI tooling to move faster across development, debugging and documentation - the team builds this way by default.

What we're looking for

• Senior-level backend experience (roughly 4+ years) shipping production systems people depend on.
• TypeScript and Node.js as your home turf - this is the core of the stack and the bar is high.
• Confident with distributed-systems building blocks: message brokers, in-memory stores, relational and document databases, async workers and caching strategy.
• Genuine Web3 fluency - you know your way around EVM chains, signing and broadcasting transactions, reading contract events, gas behaviour and the realities of on-chain/off-chain coordination. This is non-negotiable.
• Exposure to (or hunger for) derivatives, exchanges, trading platforms or adjacent fintech systems.
• The temperament for a fast-moving startup: you make sound calls without hand-holding and you ship.
• Working hours compatible with EU/Asia overlap.

Nice to have

• Rust for performance-sensitive services.
