Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Software Test Engineer Level 1 or 2 software‑test specialist to support the AARGM‑ER missile program by developing and maintaining software test plans, procedures, and reports, as well as executing hardware and software tests on flight‑worthy hardware; capturing and analyzing telemetry data using Python or MATLAB. The candidate will work within a cross‑functional team to coordinate flight‑test activities, flight‑range logistics, and data‑analysis efforts among program stakeholders. Travel to test ranges and launch sites may be required to support the AARGM‑ER flight‑test campaign.

This position is required to be full-time, on-site at the Northridge, CA location. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position. Applicants must have ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all functional teams within the Operating Unit to develop, coordinate, and execute software‑test plans, set up test environments, perform data collection, generate test reports, troubleshot test scripts, and conduct post‑test data analysis.
  • Leading in integration of products to test software equipment and instrumentation.
  • Help develop scripts (Python, MATLAB, C++) that capture telemetry streams in real time, then perform post‑run analysis, generate metric dashboards, and verify that software requirements are satisfied.
  • Leverage modern tools and methods to reduce cost and schedule of product testing.
  • Accountable for management and tracking of multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers.

Basic Qualifications Level 1

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 0-2 years of relative experience
  • Familiar with software troubleshooting and script improvement.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and/or procedure development skills.
  • Simulation experience with Python, MATLAB, or C/C++
  • Ability to obtain a Government issued Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications Level 2

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR 0 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree
  • Experience troubleshooting test equipment, test tooling, and test harness.
  • Experience with troubleshooting software in automated test equipment.
  • Demonstrated technical software writing and development skills.
  • Active Government issued Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years software testing specific experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in test automation software (i.e., LabVIEW, Python or similar) for product testing preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills – presentation, oral, written, and listening.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize and prioritize job assignments and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in an integrated team and adapt to change and dynamic requirements.
  • Demonstrated technical software writing skills.

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,400.00 - $104,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
