Smythe LLP is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications to lead the firm’s marketing, communications, and brand initiatives. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who is passionate about growing and evolving our brand, leading strategic communications, enhancing client and digital experiences, and driving initiatives that support business growth, firm reputation, and talent attraction.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Marketing Partner, the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications will oversee marketing strategy, digital campaigns, communications, external events, employer branding, and content development across the firm. This role will play a key part in enhancing the firm's market presence, supporting business growth, and strengthening the firm's reputation and relationships with clients, employees, and the broader business community. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of marketing and communications at one of BC’s leading professional services firms.
In This Leadership Role, You Will
- Develop and execute the firm’s integrated marketing and communications strategy
- Lead brand management and ensure consistency across all channels
- Oversee digital marketing, including website strategy, SEO, email marketing, paid advertising, and social media
- Lead content development for thought leadership, client communications, and recruitment campaigns
- Develop and lead internal communications strategies that support employee engagement, reinforce the firm's culture and values, and align employees with strategic priorities
- Partner with service line leaders and business development teams to support growth initiatives, strengthen market positioning, and drive client acquisition, retention and cross-selling opportunities
- Champion a client-centric approach to marketing and communications, enhancing the client experience across key touchpoints, and supporting long-term relationship growth
- Oversee sponsorships, events, networking, and community engagement
- Analyze performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations based on insights and trends
- Manage external vendors, agencies, and creative partners
- Support and mentor team members while fostering collaboration across the firm
- Manage budgets, timelines, and project priorities

- Broad experience across marketing and communications, with the ability to lead the function strategically and operationally.
- Experience in an entrepreneurial, or professional services environment is an asset, with the ability to identify and champion new ideas, communicate their value effectively, build stakeholder alignment, and lead through to execution and evaluation.
- Strong people and relationship-building skills, with the ability to adapt to different stakeholder styles, give and receive feedback, and navigate a fast-paced environment with resilience.
- People management experience, with the ability to assess team needs and gaps and build out the function over time, including future hiring as needed.
- Acts as a continuous learner and digital champion, proactively monitoring developments in SEO, AEO, digital marketing, and emerging technologies to guide strategy, drive innovation, and support team success.
- Highly polished writing, editing, and presentation skills, with an excellent command of the English language and the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally.
- A strong eye for detail in both content and design, with the ability to provide creative direction and help elevate the quality of team output; Adobe Creative Suite experience is an asset.
