6 month Contract Rate: $31โ€“$40/hour


A growing global organization is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to support a complex, high-volume U.S. payroll environment during a critical transition period. This fully remote contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with HR, payroll leadership, and external partners while ensuring a seamless payroll experience for employees across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced environments where adaptability and collaboration are essential.


What You'll Do

  • Manage end-to-end U.S. payroll processing for a workforce of 300+ employees, including both hourly and salaried populations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution, tax calculations, deductions, and benefit-related transactions.
  • Serve as a payroll subject matter expert and trusted resource for employees, HR partners, and business leaders.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Partner with external payroll providers and PEO partners to resolve issues and improve service delivery.
  • Review payroll controls, audit requirements, and documentation to support compliance and governance standards.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, reporting, and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with benefits providers to ensure proper treatment of taxable benefits and deductions.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements, documentation, and policy development.
  • Assist with payroll-related projects, audits, system changes, and organizational transitions.
  • Provide responsive support for payroll inquiries while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full-cycle U.S. payroll experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for 350+ employees.
  • Strong understanding of payroll for both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations.
  • Experience operating within a PEO environment and understanding co-employment payroll structures.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working with benefits providers and ensuring payroll compliance for taxable benefits.
  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality.


Highly Preferred

โญ Direct experience with TriNet or another major PEO platform.

โญ Strong understanding of PEO payroll operations and vendor management.

โญ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or extensive knowledge of CPP standards and payroll compliance regulations.

โญ Experience supporting payroll audits, controls, and compliance initiatives.

โญ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.


Work Arrangement

  • 100% Remote (U.S. or Canada)
  • Primarily aligned to Eastern Time business hours
  • 1 year, full-time contract engagement (approximately 40 hours per week)
  • Immediate start preferred
  • Contract expected to run through year-end with potential extension based on business needs.


Compensation

$31โ€“$40 per hour, depending on experience, payroll complexity exposure, and relevant certifications.
