About The Role

BraindAI is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Head of AI Engineering to lead the technical delivery of production-grade AI solutions for B2B clients. This is a founding-level leadership role responsible for owning the end-to-end AI engineering function, including client project delivery, technical architecture, internal AI tooling, engineering processes, and team leadership.

The ideal candidate will combine deep AI expertise with strong engineering fundamentals and leadership capabilities. They will be responsible for building scalable AI systems, establishing delivery frameworks, mentoring engineers, and creating repeatable processes that enable a small team to deliver high-quality AI solutions at scale. This role requires someone who can operate at both strategic and technical levels, making critical architecture decisions while remaining hands-on when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end technical delivery of AI client projects, including solution design, architecture, implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Lead the development of AI-powered solutions such as AI agents, workflow automation platforms, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, document intelligence solutions, LLM integrations, and data enrichment pipelines.
• Design scalable frameworks, reusable components, internal tooling, and engineering processes that improve delivery speed and maintain high-quality standards.
• Build and manage a high-performing AI engineering team, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and technical guidance.
• Establish AI-assisted development workflows using modern coding assistants, AI agents, and automation tools to maximize engineering productivity.
• Drive architecture decisions related to model selection, RAG implementation, fine-tuning strategies, orchestration frameworks, security, scalability, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate closely with leadership and clients to translate business requirements into scalable AI solutions.
• Develop testing frameworks, evaluation systems, guardrails, and monitoring capabilities to ensure production-grade AI performance.
• Continuously research emerging AI technologies, frameworks, models, and industry best practices to maintain a competitive advantage.
• Take ownership of engineering operations and delivery processes, reducing founder dependency and enabling autonomous project execution.
  
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience designing and deploying production AI systems serving real users and business-critical workflows.
• Deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, AI Agents, Agentic Workflows, RAG, Embeddings, Vector Databases, Prompt Engineering, and AI Evaluation Frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source LLMs, and modern AI orchestration frameworks.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern software engineering best practices.
• Extensive experience with System Design, Software Architecture, Distributed Systems, Cloud Infrastructure, and API Development.
• Experience building and deploying scalable applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong understanding of Data Engineering, ETL Pipelines, Workflow Automation, and Integration Architecture.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, mentoring developers, conducting technical reviews, and driving technical strategy.
• Experience implementing AI-assisted development workflows using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other AI coding assistants.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex AI systems and production issues.
  
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, and Multi-Agent Systems.
• Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), Computer Use Agents, Browser Automation, and emerging AI infrastructure tools.
• Experience working with Vector Databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, MLOps, Monitoring, and Observability platforms.
• Experience with FastAPI, Node.js, TypeScript, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, and modern full-stack development.
• Prior startup or high-growth environment experience.
• Experience working directly with international B2B clients and leading technical consulting engagements.
• Technical writing, knowledge sharing, and community contributions.

• Within the first six months, the successful candidate will establish scalable engineering processes, implement reusable AI frameworks, improve project delivery efficiency, reduce dependency on founders for technical execution, and build a high-performing AI engineering team capable of delivering enterprise-grade AI solutions consistently and efficiently.
