Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers
Coordinate with systems engineers, analysts, and program stakeholders

Position Description

The Senior Python Developer performs independent, senior-level technical work supporting the design, deployment, and governance of advanced artificial intelligence systems used in defense, surveillance, simulation, and autonomous platforms. The position has technical ownership responsibility for AI model architecture, operational performance, and compliance within secure and regulated environments. This role supports government programs requiring strict adherence to DoD security, safety, and ethical AI standards.


Duties and Responsibilities


AI System Architecture and Ownership

  • Architect AI systems supporting perception, decision-support, prediction, and control functions
  • Define and approve model architectures, training strategies, and deployment approaches
  • Establish system-level performance, reliability, and safety requirements
  • Ensure AI-generated outputs comply with approved operational constraints and protocols


Autonomous and Intelligent Systems

  • Design AI components that generate structured recommendations, guidance signals, or control logic for autonomous and unmanned platforms
  • Lead integration of AI outputs with navigation, control, simulation, and command systems
  • Establish safeguards to mitigate unsafe, unintended, or non-compliant AI behavior


Model Validation and Optimization

  • Define testing methodologies, validation criteria, and performance metrics
  • Evaluate model robustness, scalability, explainability, and operational readiness
  • Authorize models for use in development, test, or operational environments


Compliance, Security, and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, data handling policies, and ethical AI guidelines
  • Oversee use of sensitive or classified datasets in accordance with clearance limitations
  • Support audits, technical reviews, and compliance documentation
  • Maintain traceability and accountability across AI systems


Technical Leadership

  • Translate mission and system requirements into AI design decisions
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, analysts, and program stakeholders


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in AI/ML system development and deployment
  • Advanced proficiency with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python
  • Experience working with regulated, sensitive, or classified data environments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior support to DoD, IC, or federal civilian agency programs
  • Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or simulation-driven AI
  • Familiarity with secure, air-gapped, or restricted development environments
  • Knowledge of AI safety, explainability, and governance practices


This is a full-time, on-site position. Candidates must be able to report to our facility 5 days per week. We welcome applications from candidates outside the local area–relocation assistance is possible for the right candidate.
