Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Elin Pelin, Sofia Region, Bulgaria. The Mechanical R&D Engineer is responsible for researching, designing, testing, and improving renewable energy products, including heat pumps, pressure vessels, and solar thermal systems. The role involves creating 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks, developing new product solutions, conducting performance testing, and supporting manufacturing processes.
This position is eligible for EU Blue Card sponsorship for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new products
- Create and improve mechanical designs using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Conduct technical research and analyze industry trends, materials, and technologies
- Build prototypes and support product industrialization
- Perform testing, validation, and performance analysis of products and systems
- Optimize manufacturing processes and improve product efficiency
- Ensure compliance with European regulations and standards (CE, EN, ErP)
- Collaborate closely with production, quality, procurement, and engineering teams
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and design specifications
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in product development, R&D, or manufacturing engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with product testing, validation, and technical analysis
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial production
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems is considered an advantage
- Familiarity with European technical standards and certifications (CE, EN, ErP) is an advantage
- Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Professional English proficiency
