About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated WordPress Developer to join our dynamic team at Awesome Motive Inc. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of our flagship WordPress plugins and platforms. As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for building robust infrastructure to support new features, refining existing codebases, resolving bugs, and helping us scale our platform efficiently. Your role will involve collaborating closely with other developers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality solutions that impact millions of users globally. This position requires a self-starter who takes ownership of their tasks from conception to deployment, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and a passion for craftsmanship.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess professional experience in WordPress plugin development, with a strong understanding of architecture and coding standards. You should have advanced proficiency in PHP and MySQL, including modern PHP practices such as object-oriented programming, autoloading, and namespace management. A solid familiarity with JavaScript, including vanilla JS, jQuery, and ES6 features, is essential. Experience with build tools like gulp and webpack, as well as package managers such as Composer and NPM, is required. Knowledge of integrating third-party APIs (e.g., Stripe, Zapier, Drip) and working with version control systems like Git and GitHub is also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to iterate quickly, and experience working remotely or as a freelancer. Bonus points are awarded for proficiency in JavaScript frameworks like VueJS or React, experience with e-commerce platforms, and familiarity with DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include triaging bugs and implementing small enhancements received through GitHub, as well as scoping, developing, and testing new product features and add-ons. You will be tasked with refactoring legacy codebases while maintaining backwards compatibility, ensuring that updates do not disrupt existing functionalities. Providing constructive feedback and conducting peer reviews on GitHub pull requests will be vital to maintaining code quality. Effective communication with team members via chat, audio, and video is essential for seamless collaboration. You will also be expected to contribute to project planning, participate in code reviews, and support your peers in troubleshooting and problem-solving. Flexibility to work across front-end and back-end tasks, handling projects of varying complexity—from minor bug fixes to major rewrites—is key to success in this role.
