We are seeking a skilled and motivated AS/400 Technical Designer who is willing to relocate to Brussels, Belgium or is already located there. A relocation package and accommodation are included.

Job Summary:

The AS/400 Technical Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications on the IBM AS/400 (iSeries) platform. This role involves collaborating with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure that our IT solutions meet business requirements and are robust, scalable, and efficient.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality software solutions on the AS/400 platform.
  • Work closely with business analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Lead and participate in the design review process, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AS/400 applications with other systems and platforms.
  • Perform system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for designs, processes, and procedures.
  • Stay current with AS/400 technology trends and advancements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in AS/400 (iSeries) application development and design.
  • Proficiency in RPG, CL, and SQL programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of AS/400 system architecture and operating system.
  • Experience with database design and optimization on DB2/400.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with modern development tools and methodologies is a plus.
