Frontend Engineer Intern (React) - Remote, France

We are adding a Frontend Engineer Intern to our development team for a six-month, full-time remote internship. Pixel Systems is currently building custom tracking tools for a Mediterranean freight operator with major regional hubs in France, which means we need remote software support aligned with European shipping schedules and coordination workflows. Under the daily mentorship of our Lead Frontend Engineer, you will help design and refine the web interfaces our client uses to coordinate their vessels and inventory.

• Eligibility: This fully remote position is open to individuals resident in France.
• Classification: Full-time paid internship for a duration of six months, with no guaranteed conversion to a permanent role.
• Hours: 35 hours per week, with core collaboration hours between 2 PM and 6 PM CET.
• Mentorship: Supervised directly by our Lead Frontend Engineer with weekly 1-on-1 development reviews.
• University Credit: We can coordinate with your academic institution to secure university credits where applicable.
• Compensation: This is a paid learning position.
• Equipment: We provide a laptop and standard home-office accessories for the duration of the term.

The Role
As a Frontend Engineer Intern, you will learn how to transition functional layouts into functional web applications. You will work closely with your mentor to build interface components, integrate data sources, and troubleshoot display bugs. Because we are a small agency, you will observe the entire software lifespan from initial wireframes to production release. While you will not carry final sign-off responsibilities or own client delivery directly, your work will run on active production interfaces.
Your key learning outcomes include:

• Translating design mockups into predictable React components.
• Managing client-side database presentation in a collaborative Git pipeline.
• Using browser developer tools to debug layout issues and speed up page rendering.

What you will do

• Write structured HTML and clean CSS to match interface designs.
• Build interactive web components using modern React frameworks.
• Connect front-end inputs to backend APIs using standard fetch protocols.
• Work within Git to manage feature branches and participate in code reviews.
• Document tool behaviors and write simple validation tests.

What we are looking for

• Basic familiarity with web development technologies, specifically React, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Comfort reading technical instructions and raising questions when blockers arise.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when matching layouts to design guidelines.
• A cooperative attitude and willingness to implement constructive feedback on code structure.
• A valid work authorization for France (we cannot sponsor visas for this internship).

Helpful background

• Some exposure to Node.js or basic backend routing.
• Familiarity with visual assets inside Figma.
• Basic experience querying relational tables with SQL.
