Job Description


Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Software Quality Review Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Romania. Our client is an engineering consultancy specializing in embedded systems for mission-critical sectors that works closely with leading clients on real-time, secure, and scalable software platforms.

You will support software quality review activities for critical software development within a regulated environment. The consultant will contribute to software method and quality assurance activities by reviewing development artefacts, assessing compliance with applicable standards, and delivering structured review outputs that meet the customer's expectations.

This role involves a 6-month relocation to Toulouse, France, with some travel and accommodation expenses covered.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one of the following areas: critical software development or software quality assurance/software quality engineering.
  • Proven experience in regulated/standard-driven environments.
  • Strong knowledge of DO-178 / ED-12, or DO-278 / ED-109.
  • Familiarity with DO-200 and ED-153.
  • Good written and spoken skills in English (at least intermediate).

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of DO-330.
  • Experience in avionics, ATM, rail, or other safety-critical industries
  • Experience in software verification, certification support, or compliance audits.
  • Familiarity with supplier/customer review environments and formal quality gates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality reviews of software development activities and deliverables.
  • Assess compliance with applicable standards, such as DO-178/ED-12 and/or DO-278/ED-109.
  • Review software engineering artefacts provided during the course of the project.
  • Produce review outputs and associated deliverables in the client format in English.
  • Contribute to project progress tracking through the client's governance mechanisms and dashboards.
  • Deliver monthly intermediate outputs.
  • Identify issues, gaps, inconsistencies, and risks related to software quality and compliance.
  • Propose corrective actions or improvement paths where relevant.
  • Support software quality assurance activities in a safety-critical/regulated context.
