About ARU
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About The Role
You will be joining the Degrees at Work team, who are responsible for the promotion, marketing, engagement, and recruitment to a range of ARU’s distance and work-based learning courses, providing an excellent opportunity to learn and develop your skills and career within a well-regarded and experienced team.
Supporting the sales activity for flexible learning options, you will manage timely responses to inbound inquiries, both verbally and by email, supporting applicants in finding the best option that suits their career development and future aspirations. This will entail providing up-to-date information about courses and explaining entry requirements, making recommendations for appropriate courses that meet individual needs and ensuring all promotional and guidance materials are up to date to guide applicants through the admissions and registration processes.
We welcome applications from individuals with a degree, or equivalent professional qualification, or from those who have experience in a customer-facing business environment and a willingness to study for a degree. Customer service experience in any field is desirable, but as this role is often the first personal interaction with a representative of ARU, you will need as a minimum to be able to show interest and consideration in people’s needs, tenacity and resourceful problem-solving skills, and excellent, articulate communications skills; verbal, written and in person. You will have a strong work and team ethic, capable of managing your own workload with some supervision, and meeting agreed response times. You will be proficient in MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, and be confident using a range of social media tools to promote our flexible learning activities. We will train you relevant in-house systems including our Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM).
Our team is based across three campuses (Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough). Whilst you will be formally based at one of our agile campus offices, ARU provide the tools to facilitate hybrid working for flexibility. Generally, you will work from one of these offices for a minimum of one day a week, but you should be prepared to travel to any of ARU’s campuses as required, and to customer locations beyond ARU’s core region.
Some out of hours working (occasional evenings and weekends) may also be required from time to time to support with recruitment events – time off in lieu is offered in these circumstances.
Interviews will be held in person in Cambridge on Wednesday September 4 th , 2024. You will also be asked to complete a technical test as part of the assessment process.
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Clare Fazackerley, Head of Business Development at clare.fazackerley@aru.ac.uk
