Quality Assurance Engineer in SWEDEN

About the role

Devant specialises in creating highly detailed and diverse datasets of lifelike digital humans. Our synthetic digital actors perform actions and exhibit behaviours akin to real humans, with fully configurable characteristics such as age, BMI, and clothing. This flexibility allows customers to control every parameter of the datasets they order.

As we ramp up our deliveries of synthetic data, we are now looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) / Test Automation (TA) Engineer to join our Machine Learning team. You have an eye for details and finding defects, and you know how to proactively design test cases that let our machines catch any issues automatically.

In practice, you will be responsible for fault inspection, identification, and tracing of our customer data deliveries, which consist of synthetic images and underlying metadata. You will work closely with our internal teams and will need to understand how their systems work together to best understand potential fault sources.

Given the importance of this role, you will report to our Head of Machine Learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design, automate and deploy test cases to identify faults before delivery
• Inspection and ad-hoc testing of areas not yet covered by test automation
• Work in tandem with various teams to understand the test needs and design automated solutions accordingly
• Architect and sustain automated test cases

Qualifications and prior experience

• Experience in creating comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts
• Proven expertise in test automation, with proficiency in both manual and automated testing
• Fluency in a scripting language, preferably Python and familiarity with JSON
• Relevant experience working with image processing
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
• Analytical skills and robust problem-solving capabilities - you will need to identify non-obvious issues and their root cause and implement solutions to catch these automatically
• The aptitude to work both independently and collaboratively
• Stellar communication skills paired with the ability to work seamlessly across functions
• Fluency in English is mandatory

Bonus points

• Previous experience working in the computer vision/machine learning domain
• Experience in synthetic image generation and its application in training and validating computer vision models
• Experience with data annotation for machine learning
• Experience with synthetic data and/or procedural imagery
• Expertise in computer graphics and data visualisation will be a distinct advantage
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
