THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Assortment Frontend team, you will develop tools and create experiences for hundreds of internal users and thousands of external users who rely on our systems daily to make crucial business decisions. Our mission is to equip customers with tools that empower them to make data-driven decisions and execute tasks efficiently. These tools help our customers plan and manage Zalando's assortment, handle purchasing, manage inventory, and analyze assortment performance.
You'll be joining a team that is vital to Zalando's WHS business, interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders. You will tackle a diverse range of software engineering challenges, including crafting experiences for transactional and analytical systems. Our cross-functional department includes Product Managers, UX Designers, Backend Engineers, Frontend Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists, all collaborating to drive innovation and success.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
- Own the whole development cycle - from architecture design to implementation and testing and maintenance of our products
- Join a team where Continuous Integration, Code Quality and Monitoring are kept at very high standards.
- You will be delivering fully functional features and products that are well tested and based on user requirements
- Direct and frequent interaction with the users, and interest in discovering opportunities collaborating closely with UX, Product, Core Infrastructure Teams and other colleagues in an agile environment
WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
- 6+ years of experience in building applications using front-end technologies and tools
- A solid understanding of core web and browser concepts
- A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts
- Professional experience with React, Typescript
- Experienced in building Node.js based backends, proficient with frontend development tools such as Webpack
- Ability to write well designed, tested and documented clean code that interacts with backend technologies with good understanding of HTTP, RESTful applications
- Good communication skills and demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions
- A desire to constantly learn and improve your own skills
- Good understanding of Git, Visual and E2E Testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes, micro-frontend architecture, AWS, OAuth 2.0 is a plus
- Provide mentorship for Junior and Intermediate Engineers to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers.
