This project delivers defensive cyberspace operations (DCO) support to Cyber Security Service Provider Division (CSSP-D), US Army Regional Cyber Center-Korea. The CSSP-D environment includes any hardware, software, application, tool, system, or network used by the Government, whether developed, leased, or commercially purchased. Our operations are based on-site at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. Employees are authorized to receive a Living Quarters Allowance, a Cost-of-Living Allowance, and relocation expenses. Additionally, our employees are eligible for reimbursement for school-aged children to attend either Department of Defense Education Activity schools (space available) or local school of choice.
What is the position?
As a System Administrator you will be required, under supervision, to administer servers, workstations, appliances environment consisting of multiple operating system solutions (Windows, RedHat, Cisco, etc). maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of Defensive Cyber Operations requirements. These systems are used to defend against unauthorized activity on all Army assets residing on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and CENTRIX-K. Your work will include current and new systems at various lifecycle stages, and any future applications/systems not currently identified. You will be required to continue performance during peacetime, crisis, hostilities, and war operations. This position requires DoD 8140 Certification compliance by having either a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate major or one of the certifications listed below. This position requires the ITIL Foundations certification be obtained within three months of date of hire.
This is a contingent position with an expected start date in August 2024.
- Be required to assist and support the operation and maintenance of Unified – Security Information & Event Management platform consisting of Confluent Kafka, Elasticsearch, logstash, and Kibana.
- Assist in identifying data sources and assist in getting them ingested into U-SIEM.
- Provide end user support for all CE applications, operating systems, peripherals, and applications.
- Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems pertaining to their CE.
- Manage accounts, network rights, and access to NE systems and equipment.
- Implement applicable patches including IA vulnerability alerts (IAVA), IA vulnerability bulletins (IAVB), and technical advisories (TA) for the CE operating system(s).
- Be required to be familiar with preparing and submitting Plan of Actions and Milestones.
- Configure, optimize, and test network servers, hubs, routers, and switches to ensure they comply with security policy, procedures, and technical requirements.
- Install, test, maintain, and upgrade CE operating systems software and hardware.
- Demonstrate proficiency in applying security requirements to an operating system for the NE or CE used in their current position.
- Install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating systems software and hardware.
- Support in identifying gaps in Defensive Cyber Operations and provide recommendations to mitigate them.
- Ensure that hardware, software, data, and facility resources are archived, sanitized, or disposed of in a manner consistent with system security plans and requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of enclave IA security procedures and safeguards.
- Support the design and execution of security exercises.
- Conduct tests of network devices and IA safeguards in accordance with established test plans and procedures to ensure compliance with security policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain virtual environments utilizing state-of-the-art solutions.
- Required to obtain ITIL Foundations certification within three months.
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university (Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree; or a degree in a Mathematics or Engineering field).
- FITSP-O or GFACT or CASP+ or CCNP Security or CCSP certification can be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
- If substituting certification for a Bachelor’s degree, a HS diploma or GED is required in addition to the certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in an equivalent position
- ITIL Foundations certification (within three months of contract start date or hiring date)
- Specialized experience in Information Technology (IT) defense infrastructure (Sensors, Vulnerability Scanners, Firewalls, etc.) and a working knowledge of wireless technology and Army operating systems (OS) (i.e. Windows, Apple, and UNIX).
- Experience managing the following products
- vSphere
- Elasticsearch stack (ELK)
- Apache Kafka
