Senior Backend Engineer in SPAIN

We’re looking for a talented and passionate Senior Backend Engineer to join our development team. You’ll be working on a big variety of platforms to support and expand a set of apps, including the most popular Motivation app - with over 20 million users.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve our APIs, admin tools, and websites.
• Build data integrations, help define our data model and research ways to improve our sorting algorithms.
• Continuously learn new technologies and platforms (Slack, Alexa, and Discord apps, Chrome extension, ML models…).
• Work at all stack layers, including AWS, Python, FastAPI, NodeJS, and SQL.
• Take an active role in identifying the tooling and infrastructure needs of the company.

Requirements:

• Positive attitude, passion for learning new technologies, and genuine care for our users.
• At least 8+ years designing and developing APIs, 5+ years in Python, NodeJS, or similar.
• Extensive experience scaling and maintaining high-traffic, resilient modern APIs.
• Strong experience in creating new APIs from scratch.
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD tools.
• Proficiency with Git and Gitlab.
• Strong experience with Redis and ElasticSearch databases.
• Ability to work well with others and communicate clearly in English.
• Ability to hack solutions when necessary, making the right trade-offs in dealing with conflicting priorities.
• Ability to understand product needs, and translate them into technical solutions.

Nice to haves:

• Experience working in consolidated companies like e-commerce, gaming, etc.
• Experience in Frontend Development with technologies such as VueJS, React, or similar.
• Experience or knowledge in ML and/or MLOps.
• Passion for mental health, positive psychology, and self-improvement.
• Experience working in a high growth startup.
