Role Description


We are looking for a Chief Information Officer, reporting to the CFO. In this position you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's cybersecurity measures and IT infrastructure. You will lead a team of professionals to ensure reliability, security, and scalability of our IT systems, networks, and data protection strategies.


This position is 100% Remote anywhere in the GTA.


What you will be doing

  • Develop and implement IT infrastructure and cybersecurity strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Create policies procedures and metrics to effectively support the organization in all IT-related matters in a public company environment
  • Regularly present to the audit committee and board of directors cybersecurity updates
  • Implement and document technologies, policies, and procedures to ensure current cybersecurity safeguards and best practices are adopted across the enterprise.
  • Develop and oversee incident response system and business interruption and continuity procedures in coordination with cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Lead efforts to protect the organization's systems and data from cybersecurity threats, including managing security incidents and conducting regular vulnerability assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. Lead Enterprise Risk Management assessments and mitigation plans as they relate to cybersecurity and IT.
  • Manage and mentor a team of IT professionals, including network administrators, cybersecurity, applications, and IT services support staff.
  • Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of hardware, software, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Ensure IT asset management, including maintenance of hardware and software license inventory, lifecycle management, and related documentation are managed in accordance with company policy
  • Develop IT compliance policies, processes, procedures and standards and updates as needed to stay current with best practices and meet business needs.
  • Develop and manage the IT infrastructure and cybersecurity budget. Optimize resource allocation to achieve cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and executive management to understand IT needs and priorities. Communicate IT infrastructure and cybersecurity strategies and initiatives effectively across the organization.
  • Establish a vision for information technology innovation that drives business growth, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Act as the spokesperson for the IT department, promoting its capabilities and successes across all business teams.
  • Report regularly on IT progress against OKRs and strategic priorities, adjusting plans based on emerging needs.


What you will need to succeed


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven public company experience of 10+ years in an executive IT leadership role, with a focus on IT infrastructure and cybersecurity strategy development and execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT systems, networks, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Subject matter expertise in IT Strategy and more specifically Cybersecurity Strategies.
  • Expert level experience in cybersecurity; ability to set and drive the company’s strategic direction to deliver technology that meets internal and external needs, including protecting critical networks and data and preventing, detecting, and mitigating cyber-attacks and response and recovery planning following an incident.
  • Ability to stay up to date with the latest security trends and best practices and provide training to staff, ensuring continuing education.
  • Experience running and leading IT Help Desk and support functions
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCNP, SANS) are a plus.
