About The Role

Boeing is seeking a Software Engineer - Developer (Mid Level or Senior) to join our Phantom Works Advanced Mission Planning team located in Berkeley, MO. This role is integral to supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security's Software Engineering organization, focusing on the development of autonomous systems. As part of this team, you will contribute to designing, developing, and testing innovative software solutions that enhance mission planning capabilities. The role requires a collaborative mindset, a commitment to customer satisfaction, and adaptability to new technologies and environments. You will work on complex problems, applying ingenuity and innovation to develop solutions that meet industry, safety, and regulatory standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to be involved in advanced research and development projects that influence the future of autonomous systems and defense technologies.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or a related field, complemented by at least 13 years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience is required, with proficiency in C++ (at least 3 years) and experience in autonomy or robotics software techniques (at least 2 years). Candidates must have a solid background in real-time software development (minimum 2 years) and experience working within Agile development processes. An ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include a degree from an accredited institution in engineering, data science, or computer science, along with extensive experience in mission systems architectures, electromagnetic warfare, radar simulation, and familiarity with software tools such as JIRA, GIT, and Jenkins. An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance and 9 or more years of related experience are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining non-embedded software throughout its lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Key responsibilities include translating customer requirements into software designs, leading junior engineers, and developing use cases for software requirements. The role involves performing software architecture trade studies, developing interface definitions, and supporting system and flight testing. You will participate in peer reviews, create comprehensive software documentation, and support integration and validation activities. Additionally, the engineer will perform unit and integration testing, support troubleshooting efforts, and contribute to continuous process improvements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and ensure software performance aligns with mission objectives is essential.
