Engineering Manager in AUSTRALIA

Overview:

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with your direct reports, often across multiple projects for smaller teams. You will focus on day-to-day project delivery and provide career guidance and growth opportunities for each team member. This position requires a balance of technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure successful project outcomes and individual development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts performance reviews with team members and engages in regular 1-on-1 discussions to monitor growth and performance.
• Provides consistent support and guidance to enhance code quality and programming language proficiency among team members.
• Develops coding standards and procedures to promote maintainable and reusable code.
• Actively contributes to expanding the team's knowledge and best coding practices.
• Facilitates skill development in testing and defensive coding for team members.
• Provides learning resources for performance optimization and collaborates on creating educational materials when directed.
• Capable of accurately estimating time for other team members' work.
• Guides team members in problem-solving and delivers constructive, actionable feedback.
• Fosters a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the team.
• Advocates for engineers in various tasks and encourages code review sharing and learning.
• Promotes respectful communication and conflict resolution within the team.
• Administers the JFM process annually, updates it every 6 months, and sets goals based on the outcomes.
• Connects team members with subject matter experts (SMEs) and senior staff for mentoring.
• Consults on process improvements and communicates process issues to production/management.
• Participates in candidate interviews alongside senior staff and contributes to the interview process.
