The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
Are you a Cisco guru who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? We're seeking an Agile Cisco Software-Defined Network Analyst to join our dynamic IT team! In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in Cisco technologies to help enhance and optimize our network infrastructure.
EDC has recently completed a network modernization project to completely re-build its core network. EDC has a requirement for a resource to support both the run, grow and transformative activities outlined in our current roadmap.
We architect, design, build, test and deploy agile and cost-effective Network, Workplace and Service Management solutions leveraging Cloud and as-a-Service based approaches. We implement scalable, high-performance solutions that meet the need of today’s corporate and digital applications using cloud infrastructure technologies and software defined infrastructure. We develop and deliver legacy infrastructure transformation (including operating model) and migration to drive next-generation business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with key stakeholders to design and implement short- and long-term solutions to IT infrastructure needs, with special focus on data and voice networking.
- Work within Agile sprints to design, implement, and test secure and scalable Cisco network solutions.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) using Agile and traditional ITIL mythologies.
- Integrate network automation tools and scripts to streamline network management within the Agile workflow.
- Collaborate with developers and operations to ensure network changes align with application deployments and business requirements.
- Participate and/or lead Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) related network activities.
- Stay up to date on the latest Cisco technologies and Agile best practices and how to apply them at EDC.
- Ensures that system improvements and systems tests are successfully completed and documented, all problems are resolved, and systems are successfully implemented.
- Run and distribute established connectivity and uptime reports to all stakeholders.
- Audit, identify issues with and support improvements to the EDC Configuration Management Database for Network and related assets.
- Conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure that systems meet or exceed specified standards and end-user requirements.
- Produce, review, update and maintain technical design documentation, processes and procedures related to EDC’s infrastructure technology architecture.
- Act as the EDC liaison and point of contact during the implementation and deployment of solutions.
- Share knowledge within the team and with other EDC stakeholders and EDC vendor partners.
Screening Criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or in a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Network Analyst or similar role.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment (i.e., Azure DevOps).
- Experience working with network automation tools (e.g. Python, Ansible).
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols.
- Knowledge of Cyber Security Frameworks (e.g. NIST, CIS.)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Successful completion of at least one of the following certifications:
- Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP)
- Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- CompTIA Network+
- Knowledge of IT systems development principles and practices
- Hands-on experience implementing, supporting and maintaining complex multi-site enterprise networks.
- Excellent hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience, including strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools.
Assets
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
- Knowledge of zero-trust network design and architecture
- Knowledge of cloud-centric networking solutions
- Certifications in any of the other major infrastructure areas such as: servers and storage, public cloud infrastructure, endpoint device management, identity and access management, security.
Salary Range
- Platform Engineer 17: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,012 to $108,017, plus performance-based incentive.

- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from all other EDC Community Hubs (Toronto/Mississauga, Montreal/Laval/Brossard, Calgary, Vancouver, Halifax).
