A Community Safety Officer to work within our Stronger and Safer Communities Team at Lancashire County Council. This amazing team plays a pivotal role in fostering safer communities through a range of initiatives and partnerships. As a Community Safety Officer, you will collaborate with local agencies from the Police, Fire & Rescue, Health Services, and other local authorities to create and lead on plans to create a more safe and secure Lancashire. This role will have a particular focus on supporting the development of the Lancashire Strategic Assessment and Community Safety Agreements. Your role will be to consult with all the different partners to discover which areas need the most attention and create a strategy to tackle the main issues currently impacting our residents. You will represent the County Council at district level and will promote community engagement and empowerment by supporting our partners in building trust and solidarity with our residents, creating communities where people feel supported and protected. Together, with our key stakeholders, you will form part of a team that serves as a beacon of reassurance to all our residents.
Within the role there will also be an opportunity to work alongside parish and town councils to develop and manage relationships to support health and wellbeing.
What We Are Looking For…
Collaboration
We're looking for someone who enjoys building strategic partnerships with internal and external partners, this could be working with any service from other Local Authorities, Police, Probation Service, Fire & Rescue and Health. You will attend and be the voice of Lancashire County Council at local community safety partnership meetings and will support councillors in their role as appointed representatives. The ability to collate data is key so you can identify hot spots within the community and understand where to focus your attention. Pulling together all the key data and messaging into one report that can be shared across our partners to support with whatever the key challenges may be, from anti-social behaviour to knife crime, there can be a range of issues impacting our communities at any one time. Your knowledge and expertise will help to influence and challenge those responsible to make improvements where necessary.
Communication
Effective, transparent, and honest communication is paramount to ensure that the community and all key stakeholders are well-informed; fostering a cohesive and coordinated response from all partners. You'll be an effective communicator who builds strong relationships with our partner network and community members. This will be essential to gather information, data, address concerns and being able to support in implementing preventative measures. By fostering open channels of dialogue, you will be adept in bridging divides, mitigating conflicts and cultivate a sense of unity and resilience within Lancashire.
Adaptable
We're after someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable. The role is extremely varied, your days plans could change so the ability to adapt and re-prioritise is key. From attending a meeting on the Serious Violence Duty to putting together a report for the directors of the service, no two days are the same which for the right person can be extremely exciting. You will be quick to adjust to unexpected situations which may occur and be someone who gets excited by emerging challenges as and when they happen.
