Head of Human Resources (People) in UNITED KINGDOM

The Head of People (HR) is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of people initiatives globally and ensuring the alignment of people strategies with the company’s overall business objectives.


Working in a small global business covering UK, Spain and Mauritius (with potentially more locations in the future), this role will provide both strategic and operational people support within Silver Cloud. This generalist role reports to the CEO and leads our local HR Manager in Mauritius.


This role is home-based with regular travel to team events and networking events in the UK, with occasional travel to our other locations. This is a full-time role with flexible hours to suit your needs.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership


  • Develop and implement people strategies that align with the company’s mission, vision, and business goals.
  • Provide strategic support to the senior leadership team on all people matters.
  • Support the CEO with senior leadership away days and facilitate where necessary
  • Champion HR tech within the HR community by attending events and becoming a thought leader in HR tech


Talent Management


  • As part of the resourcing committee this role will help identify new roles and identify the best recruitment initiatives to attract the best talent.
  • Support Heads of Practice to ensure their resourcing levels are appropriate for our pipeline of work
  • Manage all global direct recruitment as we don’t use agencies, ensuring the recruitment of high-calibre candidates.
  • Accountable for defining and communicating the overall Employee Value Proposition
  • Develop and implement effective training and development programmes to ensure high performance.
  • Manage succession planning and career development initiatives including the company promotions process and all salary reviews.
  • Owner of the business onboarding process ensuring it is continually developed and evolved to reflect our changing business
  • Responsible for creating and reviewing all people related policies globally and that they are written in the Silver Cloud tone of voice.


Employee engagement


  • Chair the “Culture Club” who support our cultural values and facilitate the engagement calendar of initiatives
  • Foster a positive workplace culture that supports employee engagement and retention.
  • Drive engagement and motivation measured through eNPS survey and work with Heads of Practice to improve their scores
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues swiftly, promoting a fair and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure we are all working to our values of Making a Difference, Agile, Progressive, Passionate and Supportive and bringing them to life everyday.
  • Champion of all well-being initiatives including organising inspirational speakers, providing resources etc.


Reward & Recognition


  • Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits to attract and retain top talent including managing all benefit renewals and searching for the best service and costs
  • Keep ahead of reward and recognition trends and news and make suggestions to the senior leadership team.


Performance Management:


  • Implement and manage performance management processes and tools to drive high performance and employee growth.
  • Support the business to ensure all billable team members are enabled to reach their targets
  • Support managers to deal with poor performance quickly
  • Encourage a culture of continuous feedback and communication through dialogue and Vision Boards


Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):


  • Lead DEI initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace e.g Pride events and women in business support
  • Ensure we have the processes and training in place to ensure all team members understand the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace
  • Ensure all policies and processes are reviewed from an LGBTQIA+ viewpoint to protect our inclusive culture


Organisational Development:


  • Lead change management initiatives to support organisational growth and transformation e.g. structure changes or entering new geographies with our services.
  • Partner with training providers to drive learning and development across the company in all locations
  • Hold monthly review meetings with each Head of Practice to ensure they are clear on their people strategy and to deal with any concerns or issues


Compliance and Risk Management:


  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations in all locations using HR partners if required
  • Ensure all employee data is managed in accordance with Data Protection and ISO 27001 policies
  • Attend ISO 27001 audits related to people data and processes
  • Audit global policies at least annually or following a business/legislative change
  • Work with our legal team as necessary


HR Technology/Reporting


  • Responsible for the internal people tech systems (currently Sage HR). This includes the development of the system ensuring maximum use and automate where possible and ensuring all data within the system is accurate.
  • Review the current HR system and payroll providers to ensure they are fit for the future
  • Be responsible for reporting on all people KPIs monthly and presenting to both the senior leadership team and senior management team and supporting managers to make improvements where necessary
  • Leverage data analytics to inform HR strategies and decision-making.



Qualifications/Experience

  • Ideally possess an HR qualification or have relevant experience within a modern workplace that has a strong focus on employee brand and wellbeing.
  • Possess experience within all areas of HR with experience of working in a senior management role, and ideally working with a Senior Leadership Team
  • Experience of working in small global business that can require strategic thinking one minute and operational thinking the next
  • Have experience of working in a remote only business
  • Must have commercial thinking ensuring return on investment for all initiatives and identifying ways to continually improve profitability
  • Ideally experience of working within a professional services environment
  • Willingness to complete basic/operational tasks such as contract admin or data entry into the HR system
  • Proven track record in developing, implementing and communicating people strategies that drive business success.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to be able to influence and support our senior managers and team managers
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to deal with difficult or challenging situations if they are to arise
  • Deep understanding and interest in HR best practice and employment law.
  • Passion for HR technology and process automation. Keen interest in AI and how this can support people teams in the future
  • Passion for wellbeing and ensuring the best environment for every team member.
  • Able to remain agile at all times dealing with conflicting and changing priorities as opportunities arise.
