About the Role

We are hiring a Scala Software Engineer to join a leading organization in the Information Services and Data Analytics industry. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working on distributed systems, large-scale data pipelines, and cloud-based architectures.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable services that process high volumes of data across cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Scala-based data processing systems
• Build and optimize end-to-end data pipelines
• Work with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP)
• Integrate with services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and PostgreSQL
• Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of applications

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture and implementation
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in cloud-based, distributed environments

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Scala (must-have)
• Experience with functional programming concepts
• Experience with data pipeline development and data processing systems
• Hands-on experience with:
• Google BigQuery
• Google Dataflow
• PostgreSQL / SQL
• Kubernetes
• Experience working with AWS and/or GCP
• Experience with JSON processing (e.g., Circe)

• Experience with asynchronous/concurrent programming (FS2, cats-effect)
• Experience with distributed messaging systems (e.g., Google Pub/Sub)
• Strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Finagle or similar RPC frameworks
• Experience with data orchestration / workflow tools
• Exposure to containerization and Kubernetes deployments

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in data engineering or backend systems
