Are you our next IT Senior System Administrator?

Location: Dublin, as part of our hybrid working model.

Grade: Assistant

Contract type: Permanent

A Snapshot Of Your Peer Group

  • Our IT Senior System Administrator have 5+ years as a system administrator or similar– demonstrable career progression through successively challenging roles
  • VMware design and administration – you will have led or made significant contributions to previous VMware infrastructure projects. You will be highly knowledgeable with VMware core technologies and will be familiar with Horizon/VRLI.
  • Enterprise storage administration – you will have administered a multi petabyte storage infrastructure, you are comfortable with day-to-day administration tasks, performing non-disruptive upgrades, identifying performance bottlenecks/troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Microsoft technologies – you have 5+ years of experience building and administering core Microsoft technologies – Server/AD/GPO/DNS/DHCP, etc.
  • Linux administration – You have managed business critical RHEL systems you are comfortable with day-to-day management and administrative tasks.
  • Automation - you use PowerShell scripting to automate most of what you do on a day-to-day basis. You use an automation mindset to improve processes where necessary.
  • Troubleshooting – you will have gained extensive troubleshooting skills in your career, you will be inquisitive and tenacious, comfortable contributing to group troubleshooting activities when required.
  • Documentation – Ability and desire to document is a requirement – you understand the importance and value of comprehensive documentation.
  • Communication and collaboration: You work well within a team; you know when to ask questions and equally when to act. You are comfortable instructing others in your areas of expertise, but just as comfortable learning from others who are experts in theirs.


Additionally, it would be desirable to have some of the below:

  • Industry Certifications for (Linux/VMware/MS/ITIL).
  • Experience with Netapp storage and core technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise log management (VRLI/Splunk/ELK).
  • Experience with network and server monitoring (PRTG/ManageEngine).
  • Experience with PDQ deploy/inventory.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience with Azure administration.
  • Experience working in an ISO 27001 organisation.
  • Familiarity with kanban process.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members.
  • DEVOPS– pipeline as code (Jenkins/Octopus/GitHub).
  • Comfortable translating business goals into technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, being current with relevant trends and standards.
  • Technical design experience.
  • Experience with Netapp storage systems.
  • Familiarity with other virtualization technologies e.g. Hyper-V.
  • Experience of working on new technology projects as part of a co-ordinated project team
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • This is a hands-on role requiring effective communication and technical skills.
  • Responsibility for the day-to-day support of server systems in central and remote offices.
  • Creating and updating Operational and Security documentation
  • Responsibility for ensuring system uptime and reliability.
  • Working with the management team ensuring the firm’s system requirements are met.
  • Troubleshooting and problem resolution with primarily Microsoft Operating Systems on a VMware platform.
  • Installing and testing approved hardware and software upgrades.
  • Ensuring all incidents are properly resolved with sufficient detail.
  • Following up on incidents escalated within IT.
  • Monitoring and following up on incidents escalated to 3rd party hardware and software suppliers.
  • Providing 2nd/3rd level technical support to internal helpdesk.
