Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical control systems and components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability. The successful candidate will work on projects from concept through to completion, ensuring that the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems meet the necessary standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, Develop, and Test: Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for various projects. This includes creating detailed design specifications, conducting simulations, and performing rigorous testing to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Product Development: Work under new products introduction, APQP and change management process to develop the product documentation from concept to release to production, including DFMEA, DVPR, testing plans, control plans, schematics, component specifications and required standards to support the design. Data analytics to determine product cost, manufacturability and reliability.
  • Technical Analysis: Analyze and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Use your analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with electrical codes and standards, as well as company policies and procedures. Stay informed about relevant regulations and industry standards to ensure all projects meet legal and safety requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and production personnel to solve design and manufacturing issues. Foster a team-oriented environment and facilitate effective communication across departments.
  • Feasibility Studies and Assessments: Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments. Evaluate the technical and economic viability of proposed projects, considering factors such as risk, cost, and potential benefits.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports and documentation for project management and clients. Ensure all project documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering and related fields. Attend conferences, participate in professional organizations, and pursue ongoing education to keep your skills and knowledge current.

What You Bring To Ampco

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (EIT or P. Eng) license preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., Altium, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar systems).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components, systems, and applications.
  • Strong knowledge of product compliance to RoHS, REACH, EMC, FMVSS and other related standards for electronic assemblies.
  • Proficient on DFMEA, DVPR, ALT testing and DFM
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Pay Range: The typical hiring range for this position is from $72,955 - $83,000 annually; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
