Freelance Data Business Analyst - centralising experiment data - full remote

Start date mid July till end of the year

Must-Have requirements

• 3+ years as a Data Analyst or in a related role in an Agile setting
• Experience with Chemistry & Lab softwares (eg. Electronic Lab Notebook, LIMS etc.)
• Expert in SQL, Excel and/or Google sheets, macros VBA and/or Google Apps Script
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Strong organisational & time management skills, with a self-starting, entrepreneurial mindset
• Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in requirement gathering techniques, process modelling, and documentation
• Ability to translate non-technical information into a technical level of detail that developers can work with
• Proficiency in using project management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Excellent English and French

The mission

The Data Business Analyst will be part of the Connected Research & Build the Future Journey which encompasses several product groups dedicated to Research & Innovation, Group Sustainability and New Business Models (Research Digitisation, Data Acquisition…).

The Data Business Analyst will work on our internal R&I web applications for centralising experiment data and creating outputs to help with researcher analysis - reporting, BI, AI.

They will help create cohesive end-to-end solutions from the ingestion of data, ETL, and display/exploration in web apps and BI dashboards.

Your Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Product Owner and business analysts to understand stakeholder needs, objectives, and challenges
• Support the business analysts by collecting and analysing data across the business to make informed decisions
• Develop customised spreadsheets with quality assurance (i.e. user testing/integration testing) for business stakeholders
• Standardise spreadsheets or any data source with a business analysis approach to reflect the best user value
• Transform and prepare data from the diverse lab application sources to get it ready to be ingested into the cloud
• Own spreadsheet development good practices including functional and non-functional documentation
• Ensure that delivered solutions meet the specified requirements and are of high quality
• Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing, and validation of implemented solutions
• Elicit, document, and analyse business requirements, use cases, and workflows
• Participate in daily standup scrums, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews and retrospective
• Actively follow the progress of the sprint to confirm implementation meets the intent of acceptance criteria
