Storage/Backup Systems Engineer (f/m/d)

As a Backup Systems Engineer (f/m/d) you will be part of the Global Infrastructure Services Section and support multiple clients by building out, maintaining, and troubleshooting our rapidly expanding infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on design concepts, implementation strategies, and deployment timelines for new technologies within a systems environment.
- Collaborate with engineers and developers to design effective solutions meeting functionality and integration requirements.
- Proficient in NetBackup Networker, Arcserve, Veeam, and other relevant technologies.
- Provide operational support for backup infrastructure and recommend system expansions.
- Analyze backup capacity and utilization trends, and generate regular reports.
- Create and maintain operational documentation for data protection services.
- Identify areas for operational improvement and assist in deploying/upgrading backup solutions.
- Engage in the engineering phases of backup software and storage solutions delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure production systems are backed up and maintained optimally.
- Monitor production environment, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance.
- Administer enterprise and mid-range storage systems, SAN switches, and disaster recovery coordination.
- Manage change management processes, including Disaster Recovery side changes.
- Analyze and mitigate potential sources of errors and malfunctions.
- Optimize recurring processes and develop automation solutions.
- Coordinate with internal and external service providers and ensure GDPR compliance.
- Utilize ITIL service delivery skills, including Incident and Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration and Release Management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Computer Science or a comparable qualification
- 7+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator
- NetBackup Administration certified
- Expertise in NetBackup Networker, Arcserve, Veeam s/w backup, NetBackup appliance, Data domain.
- Skills in all levels of support (including implementation of Backup & Restore solutions, preparation of DR plans)
- Knowledge of SAN and NAS storage, VMware ESXi and vSphere.
- Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, network protocols, and file systems (LVM & VXVM).
- Experience with MS SQL, MS Exchange and MS SharePoint administration is a plus.
- Hands on experience on hardware level.
- Very good analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player and social skills.
- Very good English skills written and spoken
