Job Title - Embedded Engineer (Ethernet/IP Expertise)

Location - Boston, MA, USA – Onsite (Relocation Available)

Employment Type - Contract (C2C)

About the Role

We are seeking an Embedded Engineer with strong Ethernet/IP expertise to support an industrial automation engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to protocol stack integration, embedded firmware development, and real-time system optimization for industrial networking solutions.

This role requires hands-on experience with Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), embedded systems, and real-time operating environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate Ethernet/IP and CIP protocol stacks (Adapter or Scanner implementations)

• Design and implement embedded software using C/C++

• Work with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS or ThreadX

• Integrate TCP/IP stacks and Ethernet drivers into embedded platforms

• Conduct ODVA compliance and interoperability testing

• Debug and troubleshoot network traffic and protocol issues using tools such as Wireshark

• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration

• Support testing, validation, and performance optimization of embedded solutions

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in embedded systems development

• Strong expertise in Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) / Ethernet/IP

• Hands-on experience with protocol stack integration (Adapter or Scanner devices)

• Proficiency in C / C++ for embedded development

• Experience working with RTOS (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, or equivalent)

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP stack and Ethernet driver integration

• Experience with ODVA compliance and interoperability validation

• Proven debugging experience using Wireshark or similar network analysis tools

• Open to all visa categories

Preferred Skills

• Experience in industrial automation or manufacturing environments

• Familiarity with embedded hardware interfaces and low-level driver development

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Experience supporting certification or compliance processes
