The Role
As a Full Stack Developer reporting to our Vice President of Technology, you'll design and build applications that help us maximize our clients’ royalties and provide transparency in the rights management process. You'll work across the entire development stack, creating solutions that transform how we help music professionals track, manage, and monetize their creative works. We are looking for a builder. One who can deal with ambiguity by communicating with stakeholders and use AI tools to iterate quickly on features.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, full-stack applications using React for frontend interfaces and serverless technologies for backend processes
- Build and maintain web-based tools that provide rights intelligence and reporting capabilities for our clients
- Implement cloud-based solutions using Infrastructure as Code principles to ensure consistent, reliable deployments
- Create data processing workflows to handle complex music rights data from various global sources
- Utilize AI to empower your own workflow, and integrate into SMG’s products and processes
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Write clean, maintainable code following development best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the application stack
- Contribute to continuous improvement of our development processes and tools
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and knowledge sharing

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience (including co-op/internship experience)
- Experience developing and deploying cloud-based serverless functions using TypeScript and Python
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code methodologies
- Ability to build and maintain web-based applications from conception to deployment
- Experience using version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience using AI-powered development workflows and/or developing advanced AI-powered features (i.e. beyond a “chatbot”)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Work Location
This position is primarily remote, with a requirement to attend in-person meetings at our Downtown Toronto office once per month (travel expenses not covered). Toronto-based developers encouraged to work from our office more frequently if desired.
