YOUR ROLE

The Manager will lead and manage by providing directions, guidance and support to the Industry Relations team that leads and facilitates the industry engagement initiatives and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities. This includes developing strategic engagement activities with the industry that enables Industry Partnered Learning, for both authentic assessments and experiences. The role also requires that the Manager is able to bring good quality and innovative WIL ideas.

This role will ensure the team develops operational and tactical goals that are aligned with RMIT goals and vision of ‘Knowledge with Action’ and ensure that the team is prepared for success. The role will also look at enabling and integrating digital and technological aspects into the daily operations and activities of the team.

The position is responsible for a team of Industry and Community Engagement Consultant and requires the ability to develop and manage their overall performance to ensure the best possible student and graduate employment outcomes for RMIT Vietnam.

REPORTING LINE

Reports operationally to: Senior Manager, Careers & Industry Relations

Reports functionally to: N/A

Direct reports: 06 (05 Industry Consultants and 01 Community Engagement Consultant)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design the strategy of the Industry Relations area based on the overarching RMIT strategy of Knowledge with Action, by introducing innovative approaches and programs in Work Integrated Learning and industry engagement to enhance the employability and student experience outcomes of RMIT students.
  • Develop socially impactful strategies that connects our various stakeholders that contributes towards the country commitment and SDG commitments.
  • Lead and manage a team of professional staff. Develop staff capability to deliver on the aims and objectives of the department and translate that into team goals and operational plans. Monitor staff work plans aligned to RMIT processes.
  • Maintain quality assurance across the department. Undertake actions to strengthen the portfolio of industry partners that will offer projects/case studies, guest speakers, internships, employment, other jobs and any other opportunity to develop the employability skills and opportunities to our students.
  • Promote the benefits of engaging with RMIT and RMIT students to employers and market the service internally and externally.
  • Transfer employer insight to stakeholders across RMIT Leadership and Academic portfolios
  • Carry out other duties as directed by Line Manager.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

A: Qualifications and Pre-requisites

Mandatory:

Bachelor's Degree with management/ supervising experience

Preferred:

Master's Degree with management/supervising experience in a tertiary education setting

B: Employment/Professional Experience

Mandatory:

  • Significant successful experience in a service setting and leadership role (preferably gained in a tertiary education of a multi campus environment).
  • Demonstrated people development initiatives and enjoys working in a team environment.
  • Proven relationship management skills and the ability to initiate, develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships for mutual benefit.
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritizing, monitoring and evaluating performance and responding flexibly and promptly in a complex and demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive and difficult situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.

Preferred:

  • At least three years of experience in supervising or managing staff in a university or a service industry.
  • Experience with the provision of mentoring, coaching, counselling or advisory services in a higher education context
  • Experience working with CRM and case management systems

C: Competencies - skills, knowledge, abilities

Essential:

  • Expertise and content knowledge specific to employment and employability and has interest in career development, work integrated learning and industry engagement for educational purposes.
  • Demonstrated capability to take initiative, think innovatively, leverage on relationships and adopt a proactive approach.

English proficiency requirement

For all staff, appointment is subject to satisfying the English language standards relevant to the position.

For any role, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by showing successful completion of secondary education to a level qualifying to enter university study while being instructed through the medium of English, as per the RMIT University recognised qualification list.

Work permit

All foreign employees must adhere to the requirements for obtaining a valid visa and work permit in Vietnam. These requirements are mandated by the Government and may be over and above the mandatory requirements and key selection criteria. Work permit requirements are subject to change. RMIT Vietnam accepts zero tolerance to non-adherence of the immigration laws of Vietnam.
