⚡ Software Engineering Manager

💲$150,000 - $185,000 base salary
This client is focused on delivering innovative learning, for the next generation of intellectual leaders. Helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills across mathematics, physics, programming, and the arts.
They work closely with top institutions such as MIT and Harvard to ensure their training aligns with the work and problems of tomorrow.
They're looking for an Engineering Manager to come onboard their high-performing team to provide solid technical leadership. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you should have a passion for education and be well-versed in full-stack web development. Their stack is Node.js, some PHP, React, and MySQL.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and feedback to help engineers grow, be productive, and increase their impact. Through regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
- Offer technical guidance through architectural, technical design, and code reviews.
- Lead the team to deliver projects regularly, and successfully.
- Foster a respectful and supportive team environment that optimizes for collaboration and productivity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and Project Management to prioritize engineering work based on product, engineering, and business goals.
- Work with Engineering leadership and Software Architects to set technical vision and strategy.
- Set standards for maintaining a readable, testable, maintainable, secure, and scalable codebase.
- Contribute to software engineering hiring and other department-wide programs and initiatives.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer in full-stack web development.
- 1+ year of experience as an Engineering Manager - leading a team of software engineers in a product-led tech company.
- You're happy to still dive into the weeds as an EM and would love to get more involved, just don't have the time in your day!
- A passion for education and helping the next generation develop their skills.
- Proven ability to lead a team of engineers to deliver projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
