THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Zalos is Zalando’s proprietary Warehouse Management System, used across all warehousing facilities in Zalando’s network. With the move to micro-service architecture a few years ago, Zalando has committed to building a flexible, versatile, stable processing platform that can fit all future needs of our warehouses. For that, we focus on taking the system live, first in new facilities and later in the existing ones as well. One of our new warehouses is now fully operating on the new system and we need your help to further expand and deliver on the Zalos Platform Vision.
#1 Create a vision for Zalando’s Warehouse Systems Platform by understanding in detail all potential future and all current material flows in order to synthesise and prioritise platform requirements
#2 Speed up Platform adoption by discovering, designing and delivering tools for Platform configuration and visibility in order to make a step-change to a self-service system
#3 Manage risks by diving deep into stability and architectural design topics to ensure maximum reliable system “up” time
#4 Design and manage the WMS System portal and it’s features

What We'd Love You To Do (and Love Doing)
- Own the Warehousing Systems Platform product of Zalando end-to-end; define the Platform product strategy and discover new requirements for both warehousing material flows not implemented yet and migrations of existing material flows, visibility, troubleshooting and configuration
- Collaborate closely with platform stakeholders - development teams and other Product Managers across the organisation and executive level leadership in order to drive Platform performance, stability, satisfaction and adoption
- Backup your intuition, ideas and decisions through data-driven insights, well thought-through architectural decisions (discussed and taken with principal-level architects in the organisations) and a good technical understanding of service-based software design
- Engage stakeholders across all phases of product development, share updates, foster alignment, secure buy-in for decisions, becoming a go-to evangelist for the new Platform design
- Author all important product artefacts including a product roadmap, working backwards press releases, definition of product requirements, as well as functional specifications and mid to large scale solution papers
- Define KPIs for your area, understand how they impact our business performance long-term and monitor success over time

You are an experienced technical Product Leader that has an affinity for large-scale technical products and processing systems, thrives in complex environments and can dive deep to discover possible future requirements and key features that can inform product design today.
Product Leadership Be one of the most senior individual contributors in the Product Job Family at Zalando.
Strategic Vision In line with the overall Warehouse Management System’s domain strategy - you help us build and realise the vision of the new Platform-based Zalos system.
Technical Background We expect you to fly high and dive deep. Strong hands on experience and leadership experience in product management is needed. It will be a plus if you have worked with or directly managed a platform product in the past.
