DevOps Engineer

We’re looking for someone to join our Engineering team at Ferrum. Are you interested in building services to help hospitals detect and eliminate the millions of medical errors that occur every year? If so, read on.

What You Will Do

Ferrum is a distributed, fast-growing company where you will be wearing many hats and pitch in on different components and projects across the organization. That said, here are some examples of what you’ll do:

• Deploying infrastructure and applications through Argo Workflows across multiple cloud environments (ex: AWS, Azure)
• Design deployment architecture and SOPs in conjunction with developers and business needs
• Taking ownership of our Jenkins pipelines build pipelines for application code and container images to improve developer experience
• Create and continuously improve internal tooling with a focus on enhancing developer experience

You Have Experience With:

• At least 5 years of relevant DevOps experience
• At least 4 years of maintaining production environments using Terraform, or similar IaC tools
• At least 2 years of maintaining and deploying customized first-party and third-party Helm Charts to Kubernetes clusters
• At least 2 years of cost-effective infrastructure system design experience
• Writing binaries, libraries, and microservices in Go or Python, and shell scripting
• Schema validation and generation with CUE, or similar
• Release management and deployment methodologies

Preferred Experience, But Not Required:

• A working knowledge of modern security practices (ex: remediation plans, CVEs, IDS, WAF, IAM, RBAC, ZTNA)
• With Linux operating system internals, filesystems, disk/storage technologies and storage protocols
• Linux and physical networking (ex: routing, switching, Wireshark) as well as networking constructs in cloud environments
• Powershell

You should be proficient with BASH and familiar with Python--but Go is even better.

You ensure the security of our systems and the privacy of our customers' data. You keep up to date with security bulletins and CVEs. You’ve been a part of or even led remediation plans to swiftly implement fixes. You can provide architecture guidance for hybrid cloud solutions and implement them when necessary. You have experience and opinions on vulnerability scanners, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.

You strive to take ownership of a project from ideation to delivery and maintenance. Your experience provides a framework for you to work independently on several initiatives which will provide significant and measurable value to our customers. Seek opportunities to develop horizontal technologies that benefit multiple teams. Build developer tools to increase efficiency of all teams at Ferrum.
