CoreFactor is searching for a Patching Analyst on a contract basis for a client in the GTA.
This position if fully remote. The successful incumbent can be located anywhere within Canada, however, will be required to work 9AM-5PM EST.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing and executing computer and server patching to ensure our client’s systems are secure and up to date. This role involves utilizing tools such as SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) and WorkspaceOne to deploy patches efficiently across various operating environments. The Patching Analyst will report into the Manager, Cybersecurity Governance, and work closely with Cybersecurity team to mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with industry security standards.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement patch management strategies using SCCM and WorkspaceOne.
Schedule and oversee the deployment of patches to ensure minimal disruption to system operations.
Packaging software applications for deployment across different operating environments.
Identification of patches, acquiring, testing, analyzing, and verification of successful deployment and installation.
Troubleshooting operating systems and environments, applications, and packaged deployments.
Categorize IT assets and patches by risk and priority.
Execute testing and production patch rollout in stages until all systems meet compliance requirements.
Collaborate with Cybersecurity to identify and prioritize critical vulnerabilities.
Coordination with internal stakeholders for patch testing and production rollout on applicable systems.
Creation of continency and rollback planning to perform restoration of operating systems and applications.
Monitor patching processes and resolve any issues related to software deployment.
Generate regular reports on patch compliance status and effectiveness.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in patch management technologies.
Coordinate with IT support and network teams to ensure compatibility and stability of systems post-patch.
Train and support team members on new tools and patch management procedures
Post patch deployment validation, confirmation of installation, and detection of missing patches or compatibility issues.
All other duties assigned by the Manager, Cybersecurity Governance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience in managing and deploying patches using SCCM and WorkspaceOne.
Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems.
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and OU management.
Experience with PKG/DMG for macOS.
Experience with PowerShell, VB, Batch, and shell scripting.
Understanding of backup solutions and image snapshots.
Experience with system administration and IT infrastructure management.
Knowledge of IT security principles and how they apply to patch management.
Excellent problem-solving skills to identify patch conflicts, compatibility errors, performance degradation, or security related issues.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Certifications in Microsoft SCCM, VMware WorkspaceOne, or similar are preferred.
Nice to Have
Scripting skills in PowerShell or similar for automation of patch deployments.
Familiarity with network security protocols and tools.
Experience in a regulated industry, with knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
