About MMG Dugald River mine:

Dugald River is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.

The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.

Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women’s only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.  

Site IT Support

Reporting to The Senior Onsite Technology Support, the Site IT Support role will be responsible for providing onsite support services to all technologies and systems that enable the operation of MMG’s Dugald River mine site. This is achieved by engaging and maintaining relationships with onsite staff and management, the extended technology team, contractors and external vendors and suppliers.

The support activities encompasses a variety of technologies that go from the typical IT environment to Operational Technologies (OT) and Telecommunication services, in a diverse mining environment (underground and surface). This is achieved by engaging and maintaining relationships with onsite staff, the Technology Services extended team, contractors and external vendors and suppliers.

With demonstrated experience within a mining (or related) environment, you will have well-developed skills and personal attributes, including the following:

This is a permanent position on an 8 days on, 6 days off (8/6) roster, Fly in Fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane or DIDO from the local communities of Cloncurry or Mt.Isa.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Support all in-scope Information and Operational Technologies systems and services onsite and to remote sites as required.
• Monitor and maintain the underground and surface communication networks (LAN, WiFi, Radio, 4G, Fibre Optics, etc).
• Assist in bringing new technologies under support when appropriate.
• Procure and manage IT equipment as required (desktop, laptops, mobile phones, peripheral equipment such as printers, etc). Assist in the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of such equipment and related software.
• Work with third party vendors to ensure systems are monitored and maintained (backups, server health checks, network connectivity, security patches, etc).
• Support a segregated network environment (Business, Industrial and Control networks) as required.
• Provide support to ancillary services such as Site TV systems, Digital Information Displays, Video Conference systems, etc
• Log Problems and Incident tickets, Service Requests and “walk-in” assistance using MMG’s approved toolset
• Advise and provide recommendations for Continuous Improvements activities in work processes and technologies and, contribute on the implementation of endorsed improvement activities.
• Troubleshoot and triage incidents in supported OT systems and technologies, undertake root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records and monitor software licence usage.
• Coordinate onsite resources and contractors to carry out infrastructure work.
  

 Qualifications & Competencies

You have well developed technical skills and personal attributes including the following:

• Tertiary qualifications - Minimum Certificate IV in Information Technology or Telecommunications or equivalent & ITIL Certification (desirable)
• Current Driver’s License - Manual.
• Experience in maintaining and supporting Industrial and/or Control Networks.
• Experience in supporting OT systems such as OsiSoft (PI), Ampla, LIMS, Micromine (Pitram, Geobank), Seismic Monitoring systems, etc
• Experience in maintaining and supporting computer/server room infrastructure, LAN, WAN and telecommunication services.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting a variety of operating systems and applications for server/desktop/laptop/mobile devices.
• Experience in maintaining and supporting network infrastructure including switches, cabling and patch management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills & ability to explain problems and solution to non-technical users.
• Ability to work in a technology diverse environment.
• Customer focus, providing high levels of customer support.
• Previous experience working in a Mining or Natural Resources environment.
