Senior IT Infrastructure Architect

We are looking for a talented and passionate Senior IT Infrastucture Architect (M/W/D) to join our dynamic team in the medical industry.

Hinterground:

This role is responsible for defining the target vision and governance of the regional data center in Lübeck, including its services, as a sovereign, auditable, and scalable platform for compute services.

The function defines architecture principles, standards, and roadmaps, prioritizes their implementation, ensures binding compliance with Service Level Objectives (SLOs), security and compliance targets, and assumes overall quality responsibility towards internal stakeholders and audit authorities.

🔎 Responsibilities:

• Design and maintenance of the target architecture and service design of the on-premises data center in Lübeck
• Definition of reference blueprints for Proxmox-based virtualization, Windows and Linux server systems, MS SQL and MySQL databases, backup and recovery solutions, observability, and integration into the Dräger Global Network
• Design and maintenance of the service catalog, including lifecycle, patching, and hardening policies
• Definition and implementation of RTO/RPO tiers and derivation of automation and compliance guardrails
• Governance of change, risk, and security processes with clearly defined approvals and artifacts
• Establishment and tracking of operational metrics such as SLOs, MTTR, patch compliance, and tested recovery procedures
• Responsibility for the audit readiness and auditability of the platform
• Acting as customer authority and quality owner in the collaboration with managed service providers
• Definition and governance of sourcing interfaces, SLA/OLA frameworks, acceptance criteria, and exit criteria
• Monitoring and enforcement of contractual service quality and compliance
• Conceptual responsibility for capacity planning and lifecycle management of compute, storage, and data center–related network connectivity
• Coordination of operational implementation and day-to-day operations with run teams and external service providers based on defined standards
• Execution of architecture and design reviews
• Moderation of technical decisions and consolidation of stakeholder requirements
• Preparation of decision documents and responsibility for complete and binding documentation

✨Required Qualifications:

• Successfully completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification with several years of relevant professional experience
• Certifications in relevant technologies such as Windows/Linux, virtualization, databases, backup and recovery, CCNA, or ITIL are an advantage
• Proven experience in defining target architectures and operating data center environments
• Experience in establishing standards, guardrails, and governance models for virtualized infrastructures
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Proxmox virtualization clusters, Windows and Linux/Unix platforms, Active Directory, and MS SQL and MySQL databases
• Solid expertise in patching, hardening, and lifecycle policies
• Strong understanding of backup and recovery design and observability concepts including telemetry models and SLO definition
• Knowledge of IT security and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps approaches, and scripting using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Solid understanding of data center–related networking concepts
• Familiarity with ITSM processes, audit evidence requirements, and external service provider management including SLA design
• Experience in project management within an international environment
• Strong stakeholder management skills

Specific qualifications:

• Advanced level of English
• ITIL certification (e.g. Foundation level)
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills
• Willingness to make decisions and take responsibility for results, quality, and compliance
• Audience-appropriate communication skills in German and English
• Confident and solution-oriented moderation of technical and organizational decisions and conflicts
• Strong cost awareness
