Power BI Developer - Government Digital Transformation Project Melbourne (Hybrid)
Contract | Agile Delivery Environment
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a major Victorian Government digital transformation program focused on property sourcing, renter relocation, and housing outcomes.
This role will be responsible for designing, building, and delivering high-quality reporting dashboards as part of a broader Microsoft Power Platform solution.
About the Project The Property Sourcing, Matching and Relocating Renters Solution is a multi-stream program delivering:
- A PowerApps Model-Driven application supporting operational workflows such as property sourcing, renter matching, relocation execution, and offer management
- Power BI reporting dashboards for operational and strategic insights
- Data ingestion for current and future relocation data tranches
- A Power Pages solution enabling collaboration with Community Housing providers
- Change management and training for business users
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards delivering clear, actionable insights
- Build presentation layers including charts, graphs, maps, and drill-down reports
- Connect to and model data from enterprise source systems and static data sources
- Work closely with business users in an Agile, iterative delivery model
- Support business enablement by upskilling users in self-service BI
- Implement automated unit testing integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, including:
- Technical Design Documents
- Data Models
- Data Dictionaries
- Contribute to structured handover and knowledge transfer activities
- Use Azure DevOps for source control, peer reviews, and release pipelines
- Power BI source code and configurations stored in version control
- Automated unit tests with coverage reporting
- Design specifications and deployment plans
- Development handover pack and structured knowledge transfer sessions
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Reports / Business Intelligence domain
- At least 3 years’ hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI
- Strong experience with:
- Data modelling and data integration
- BI presentation layers and interactive reporting
- Agile delivery and stakeholder collaboration
- Automated testing practices
- Azure DevOps CI/CD and release pipelines
- Experience in government or large enterprise environments is highly regarded
- Work on a high-impact public sector program with real community outcomes
- Collaborate in a mature Agile delivery environment
- Opportunity to influence reporting standards and business capability uplift
